Where to buy Dreambox in the UK

I got my 500S a year+ ago from eBay from a seller with a great feedback and high score. It turned out, however, that the DM is fake. I cannot use any cards with it.

So, I'm wondering what's the best place to buy the original Dreambox in the UK?

Why is that? what is stopping you and what cards did you want to use in it?

Well it has not been produced for some time now so for that model I am afraid you have little or no chance of finding one.
 
I used to always purchase mine from satstore.co.uk. as hes approved DMM :-righton

I have had both clone and original DM600PVRs and both worked aswell as each other with the exception that the clone box coped better with the weaker transponders than the original :eek:

Theres nothing wrong with clone boxes as long as you don't put Gemini images on them. Personally i wouldn't touch Gemini with a barge pole after it killed my 100% Original DM7000.

The biggest insult was when DMM coundn't give a monkies about the fact their software killed my DM7000 when i enquired about getting it repaired by them.

Because of this I no longer have any loyalty to DMM or Gemini and i have no scruples about recommending clone boxes or other manufactures boxes.

I have installed quite a few clone DM boxes now for people and they have had no problems with them at all. They have performed just aswell as the originals :-righton

The one thing i can guarantee is that my next box will either be a clone or something like a Katherine, Cuberevo or Qbox.

Theres no way i will ever give any more of my hard earned money to Dream Multimedia. They were quite happy to take my money and then sh*t on me when i needed their help to rectify damage which they caused :-shifty

I have had the same experience as nanochickin when it comes to DMM's attitude to repairing their own hardware. They dont care about after sales, so now I dont care for them.

There is no reason why a card would not work in a clone, If you elaborate on your setup and what you have tried, we may be able to point you in the right direction :)

Thanks. And I have to say that I'm delighted with it. Although I got my 500S a while ago, it was only recently I got some time to play with it.

Well, I'm quite a bit confused. I was pretty certain that I got the original (security holograms, remote, etc). Recently, I put Gemini 4.60 on it, but couldn't start the Blue Panel and install any plugins. I was told (in a bit rude way) that my dreambox is not the original and to bugger off 'their' forum. Now I have pli-jade image and things seem to work fine.

Until I got a card, that is. I recently purchased the original card for HRT (Croatian TV, HotBird 6). I followed all the instructions, but to no avail. The card works fine on friend's 7020S.

Any ideas what to do next, how to make the reader read the card?
 
I would start by installing CCcam from your blue panel and see what you get with that. There's a fair chance you won't need to edit the config at all.

Secondly, if you have a clone I'd recommend a nabilosat image , I found PLi a little featureless.

Could you give more detail, what emu's have you tried and what is the encryption system your card uses ?
 
m8, there are plenty of other images besides the original ones, personaly
I have four on my dream boxes. my favourite at the moment is nabilo
dark star2. try a few different cabms, I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

Good point, but it is the right way round. I've also tested it (successfully) on another device.

Using the blue panel I installed CCcam and gBox. I tried many things, but the card (actually I tried two different ones) on my dreambox is still not working. The card is fine as it works on a friend's dm7020.

Is it possible that Gemini destroyed my card reader (have you guys come across this before)? Or, maybe my card reader was faulty in the first place.

BTW, HRT uses Viaccess.
 
I wouldn't say its destroyed your card reader, its more than likely it either doesn't work or the contacts aren't reaching the card which i have seen before on certain DM500s models.

I read it somewhere on either this forum or another i frequent that all you have to do is check that the pins on the reader are in the correct position and haven't moved. If they have you just nudge them back into place :-righton

Oh, yes. That was it. Pins are now in the correct position and the card works fine. You're my hero. Thanks.
