Welcome to the forum.:)

Unfortunately, you are asking the equivalent of "How long is a piece of string?" :)

You need to work out what you want to watch and how much you want to spend, so a bit of reading required first.:)

I can sell you a good piece of string.

it depends on what i can get then i will decide on what i want to spend because dont want to be spending money on equipment if i dont get anything useful out of it but if i do get something decent then i am willing to spend

In that case you are going to have to do a lot of reading of this self help forum, nobody can advise you until you decide what you want to watch.
You will not obtain anything 'useful' without a subscription as most channels are secure now

What do you want to watch - movies, sport, documentaries or entertainment? What language(s)?

Price and equipment varies on what you want and generally the wider the subject choice and quality the higher the price.

i want to watch sport and entertainment in english

In that case the best package is probably a subscription to Sky UK! :D

Prices range from £16/month for one basic package to nearly £50/month for the sports & movies

Sounds like you need sky installing

isn't there any other way b'cause i dont want to be spending £50 a month. On other forums i have seen that you can get these channels without paying £50 a month but dont know how exactly

Ah you shouldnt believe everything you read on the internet :D

Pay tv is a luxury service and if you cant or wont pay then you do without :-rofl2

Past history, in the main.

Encryption is now so secure that very little Premium content is available without Subscription.

I thought you wrote much of it? :-HoHo

You can't go far wrong with a Skystar2 PCI card and a motorised dish (the bigger the better). If you've got video out on your video card then patch it to the telly. Run DVB viewing software on your PC with S2EMU, Vplug and WinCSC plugins. Correctly configured these will allow you to view as much as most other systems can.
Local law may apply.

cool. but what channels exactly would i get b'cause don't want to be splashing for a sky-star and find out you can only watch freeview channels might as well get a freeview box for less than half the price

If you are hoping for the Sky UK channels forget it - no chance whatsoever. You can get a few channels on 13E and the Digi+ package on 1W (will be going secure in a few weeks / months)
