art is a good option as it shows plenty of english premiership football usually 3-4 3pm kickoffs on sat and matches on other days the big plus is english commentry

digitalb shows a couple of matches at the weekend and also good for italian , german footie too. you also get the movie channels

if you get an art card make sure its the new card that includes the aljazeera sports channels as these show fa cup and league cup matches

i have both as i think its good value for money

When choosing a card for football coverage, when is the best time to buy? Before the new season starts, or does the card only get activated when you first use it? I'm new to all this as you can tell.;)

art if you want more matches but the quality isn't so good on the art channels

buy one of the new carte art cards to get the two aljazeera sports channels and 5&6 sports channels

just get art to start with and then add any others after

IMO the ALB card offers better value but....and it's a big but(t), for me I'd choose ART because I have a fixed dish with 3 LNBs :( and squeezing 16 east in would be an issue so I would not bother (for now)

I believe one channel is in English. I'm sure I've heard the Sky commentators on there.

Sky will not be broadcasting any world cup matches, BBC & ITV hold the rights as this is one the events that is ring fenced for FTA TV as per the uk goverment so i don't believe digitalb will be broadcasting in english.

I don't think that's correct. Sky will be able to transmit England matches but will not have sole rights as they had with the Premiership live games in the season that's just ended.

Sky have never had rights to screen world cup final matches, they have only ever had rights for world cup & european chamionship qualifiers. The world cup, wimbledon & the olympics are some of the events that are not available to bid from pay tv in the uk.

i have had a ART card since xmas and it has been great.i am a boro fan and art have only missed maybe a couple of games.the only problem is with Art sport 2.the audio is terrible it cracks and bangs but apart from that it is great.also you now get world cup(art 5 & 6) channels.on a match day you can also zap to other prem games if your team isn't playing.i would recommend this card and will be buying a new one for next season.
"WE ARE JUST A SMALL TOWN IN EUROPE" but at least we were at the final.what a season."come on the boro.regards db188.:)
