Hi fella's, I spent a few minutes trying to work out the best sub forum to post my question so apologies if this one isn't suitable

Let me explain that I'm pretty rubbish at all aspects of DIY.

I want to run an outdoor weather proof cat 6 cable from downstairs to upstairs along the outside of the brick work and want to know if there are different types of cable tacks and are they different sizes ?

The cable I'm looking at buying is this one
Code:

Also would it be best to hammer the tacks into the brick itself or into the cement/mortar part ?

Thanks in advance

Morning J. That's a very similar cable that I am using for outdoors. It's very thick, so be sure to choose correct size tack.

Regarding the location of tacks - certainly, it'll have to go into mortar. You won't be able to hammer the nails into bricks.

Alternatively, get some plastic trunking and get some straps to keep it on the wall. You'd need to drill it though and use sleeves for screws. A bit like this.

It's probably an overkill for your situation though.

Cable clip (round) size 6 mm is the one i,v used in the past ... into mortar.

Morning fellas, that's great advice. After seeing your photo's CJ it gives me an idea what to do here more clearly.

Thank you Nelson_b for the correct sizing, I think I can pick those up at B&Q

Appreciate both of your input's :)
