Dear Jankoh
If you are new to sat TV then there are some other questions to ask and answer first.
Are you new to PCs as well?
Can you configure a LAN and ftp files to the correct directories in a Linux environment?
If you downloaded a binary file, would you know how to change the permissions to make sure it is executable (chmod?.
Learning to use the D/B is a very fast process. You will scratch your head at times but there are a lot of people to help.
You don't have to be slick at the above PC stuff, but it helps. Otherwise a D/B might not be the right receiver.
But here's the first question 4 U to answer: why isnt the 7000 in your list?

I know a litle bit about PC's. I'm a PC software develpoer and study electrical engeenering so the PC staff will not be a problem.

The DB7000 is a litle bit expensive and I need no HDD in the receiver. I read that I can "share" the HDD in my PC to save staff to it....

I'm wondering if there is any SW for DM500 & DM5620 or is all the hacking about the DB7000?

Have a look through T_Gs posts in this section, he has the 5620 and seems to find an ample choice of software and plugins.

The 5620 doesn't have support for internal hard drive so no heat problem.

You can pretty much guarantee that it will be similar to the other models, they all seem to be variations on a theme. What i would add though, there is little support for the new model currently, so may be better going for the very slightly older 5620.

Yes. I'll go for the DB5620. It offers (up to) 64MB (the 500 is only 32M:cool: two SCART ports, and two CI slots...
