My Satellite Setup
Orbital 80cm Dish,
Inverto 'Black Series' 0.2dB Twin LNB,
Moteck DiSEqC 1.2 motor,
Dreambox 500s
My Location
manchester
I have had to reflash my box and I wanted to know which files stores the manually saved motor positions as I don't want to have to do it manually again.
I have a backup of my image but it causes he same problem when restored so I just want to ftp the file across.

Thanks

They are in the config file. This is in folder /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/ - path might be different in some images.

But you can't load satellite positions just be editing this file - it is more complex than that.

Any information on how it can be done, I have a full backup so can get at all the files from my old setup.

Thanks

Best advice I can give is to print out the config file and see how it works. One thing you will note is that orbital positions are in positve and negative hex - how good are you at negative hex calculations? Any changes you make to this file are ignored unless you do a mains power off/on sequence after editing.

I would advise against making big changes to this file in one go. Test a small change first so you can see if it works.

I will have a play, I thought it should have worked as I have flashed the exact same image again so in theory it should have just worked. Oh well I will have to manually do all the sats again if I can't get it to work.

Thanks

would be great to know how this is done, have managed to update the config file once...stores both orb's and motor positions -/+ (was warn'd not to cut and paste motor positions) the config is also 'link'd' or used by other files such as sat.....xml etc, so best back up if yer going to have ago at editing...best luck

I tried and gave up, will manually setup the sats again :(
What I don't get is if my backup was taken at a time my box was working so why would a restore not fix my problem.
The issue I had was the channel would show for 3-5 secs and then black screen then picture shows again, like engima was restarting.

Thanks

How did you try to do this - I don't understand what you mean by restore.

This is how I did it.
.........1/ loaded new image
.........2/ loaded my old channel list
.........3/ edited config file using data saved before loading new image

HI Pal

When I first did my 500s and manually added the sat positions I then went to backup/restore in the pli images and backed up everything to my mount on the hdd.
When the system went funny I reflashed the pli image and setup mount again and did a restore from the backup created. What I don't understand is that the backup was taken weeks earlier when everything was working so restoring this should not cause a problem.
I did have it set to download epg data to the sqllite db using radiotimes so possibly it could be this that is causing the problem.
