are you being serious ? re gased ? lol

a plasma will last you 70,000 hours before it starts losing its brightness.

so if you watch 7 hours of tv a day, it will last you 10,000 days or just over 27 years.

the best plasmas on the market are panasonics, but you will pay for them, i have a 50" samsung which would be middle range, the cost of that plasma is now down to £1100 bargin.

the best advice i could give you is join av fourms, you can find everything you need to know about every make and model of plasma on the market.

enjoy

PDP-507XD is also a very good TV..It is the 50 inch version of the latest seventh generation Pioneer plasmas (which i think have the best picture)..I have the 42 inch version PDP-427XA .
I did a lot of research before i bought my PDP-427XA,i even considered PDP-5000EX because of its 1080P capability but in the end decided on PDP-427XA which has 1080i...None of the european satellite TV broadcaters have plans for using 1080p so unless you will be buying a Blueray DVD player its not much use.But still PDP-5000EX is a far superior screen ...expensive tho..

plasma doesn't need to be regassed, but does have problem with image retention so make sure you take care of it.

I prefer LCD as I think it's more reilient than plasma technology. If I had to choose it would probably be a Philips with ambilight and Pixel Plus 3.

You may like to check out the many posts on a similar subject on avforums.

Will you be using it for gaming as well or just tv/ dvd?

Do you have HD satelllite? SD on an HD display can look pretty crap.

John Lewis pricematch and have a 5 year warranty. Pioneer and Fujitsu (not Fujitsu-Siemens) are well regarded; Samsung for LCD. Have you also budgeted for AV stuff e.g. amp & speakers, as many are panel only: no speakers.

I have a Panasonic 42" Vierra with the integrated stand , it looks great its a brilliant view, and quite competitively priced, plasma did have a problem with image retention ( marks left by logo,s/ banners on screen) but the technology has advanced and this has been eliminated, go for it m8 you won, regret it, i am going to get another for upstairs, wall mounted.

deep joy dave
