Which non-HD Dreambox is the most stable/reliable

1 GigaBlue Quad plus, 1 Dreambox 5620, MOTECK SG2100A DISEqC Motor, 120 cm noname offset dish, Humax 95 cm offset dish and a few UK digiboxes.

I am looking to buy (for a friend) a cheap and reliable Dreambox. sadly his 5620 blew up some time ago, and he wants to have another dreambox.

He does not have an HD TV, and don#t think he will have one anytime soon - all he wants is a cheap and reliable dreambox.

Any suggestions? Is it worth buying used? Clone?

I have asked my friend, he prefers not o buy a clone. So he is left with the option of a 500 or 600. Are the 600 reliable?
 
DM600 should be reliable, but cost about £180. As you can imagine at that price vs £50 for a DM500 clone there aren't many people with DM600s.

There are no more original DM500s being built.
 
The most reliable dreambox is the DM500HD, but it is quite expensive. The DM600 is a great little SD box (not HD) that works well, but does run quite hot and must be positioned so it is well ventilated. Most features are available on the DM600, that runs Enigma1, but there is not a lot of new development done for Enigma1 as all the new dreamboxes run Enigma2 (DM500HD, DM800, DM7025 and DM8000). I would not buy a clone as the manufacturers are committing intelectual theft and could eventually put DMM out of business. Do not confuse the DM500HD with the DM500 as they have nothing in common except some digits in the name.
