Which PVR to buy Technomate TM 5402?

Im looking at purchasing a Freeview PVR, looking at the TechnoMate TM5402

Im fairly IT savvy and like a bit of tweaking but the wife needs to be able to use it too.

My requirements are i can use it to view Hotbird etc basically French and Spanish channels for the kids and for me im looking into cardshare (does it work well on this box?) etc and of course i need to be able to record sport etc in HD.

I chose the above as it seems resonably priced, dreamboxes seem way above this even 2nd hand on ebay for a 500hD.

Any pointers most appreciated.
 
Well the model shown is a Satellite Receiver/PVR - Freeview is the Digital Terrestrial Platform in the UK.

Also, if your reference to a Card Share is likely to entail paying a provider, then discussion of that falls outside our Forum Rules.
 
Sorry what i actually meant was FreeSAT my mistake. Thanks Super Moderator for such an articulate response in return, id almost say it wasn't worth the oxygen consumed. Maybe youll have a better day tomorrow.

Distinguishing between Platforms is often very important and nobody replying to you can know what you mean without checking. It's always worth "expending the oxygen" to get clarity and resolve ambiguity.

However, the TM is not a Freesat Receiver either: Freesat is a 28E based Platform run by a BBC/ITV consortium and using Branded Receivers which (like BSkyB) has a proprietary 7 day EPG.

The TM is a non-Platform DVB S Receiver.
