Hi All,

First post but have been doing a fair bit of reading and learning on here.

Well Im about to buy and setup my first system and have pretty much decided on a Triax 88cm dish with technomate 0.2 db twin LNB and am now considering which reciever to buy.

Im was going to buy the Technomate TM 5200D reciever and then spotted a TM 3300 with 2 x card reader slots for a little bit more money which my budget will allow. As Ive never used sky before Im not sure why I would need a card reader. Can someone tell me what advantage is it to have a card reader or am I better off sticking with the TM 5200D.

Thanks

With a card reader the receiver will be able to take some official subscription cards.

It might take a Sky card also, it reportedly did before the Sky card swap.

Apart from Sky cards can I get foreign cards so I can say watch football from foreign stations cheaper than paying sky.

Also a bit off topic but... I am going to add a motor to my setup once Im up and running. From what Im reading about motors they take care of Azimuth and Elevation of dish but what about LNB skew? Will I have to manually change this everytime I change satellites or am I missing something?

When setting up a motorised dish you place the lnb central (no scew). There is no need to adjust again-just send motor to required sat and view.
