Hi all, just joined the site (Looks Great) and for my first posting (Hope it's in the right place, apologies if it's not) a question to all you guys with the experience/knowledge that I don't have,I am looking to purchase a full system/set up that will allow me to view as much (Mainly English Premiership) football as possible,I have sucessfully fitted my own/friends Sky systems in the past but by no means consider myself to be an expert on satellite systems or their set-up/configuration,etc hence my request for your advice/assistance,I have been looking around on the internet (How I found you guys) and have seen the various offerings, (Decoders/viewing cards, etc) my question is, bearing in mind that I am mainly looking for the best value for money complete system/set-up that will allow me to view as much English Premiership football as possible (FA Cup/European football would also be nice)and maybe a movie channel (Nudge,Nudge,Wink,Wink) or Two as well, which system would you recommend?, please include as much info as possible (Decoder/viewing card/dish and size etc,and most importantly the best place to buy from) in any replies given,Thank You for any help/advice/replies in advance,Regards,The Soulman.

well no one knows which provider for football will be best as art sports have lost the rights for next seasons football as this is what everyone has at the moment

digitalb on eutelsat w2 16east shows premiership football and has movie channels with english films/albanian subtitles

Ok Wod,thanks for the reply, which would be the best value for money complete system that would be most likely to be able to receive a signal from any one of the sevice providers that might win the rights to the premiership matches next season,I realise that this is sort of an impossible/if, but and maybe question to answer, I'm just thinking that there may be a decoder/set-up that would cover as many sevice providers as possible, thanks and regards,The Soulman.

well just depends on where the dish will go, your line of sight etc as a 1metre dish, 0.2db lnb, technomate 1500 ci would be a good choice

art sports till the end of this season buy a 6 month card, then digitalb for next season could be an option

other providers will be much more expensive as there is nova, premier, canal digital etc

you wont be able to get loads of providers as it will be too costly and not all will work on any reciever as they are like sky only work with there own boxes

the visionnet8000cis seems pretty good, i only had it a week , but well happy with it and its newbie friendly

Thanks for the replies, another few questions for you Wod if you don't mind, how much would you estimate the cost of the decoder you have mentioned (Technomate 1500 ci) a 1 metre dish and 6 month Art viewing card, any recommendations as to where to buy from? Could you tell me what these CAM's do,can they be inserted into any/most decoders,in what instance would you use One,sorry to be a pain, your help/advice/comments are much appreciated (As are everyone else's,so feel free to join in/offer advice please people) Thanks and Regards,The Soulman.

well

dish about 60 ish gibertini 1metre
reciever about 95ish
art 6 month card about 55ish
brackets , cable, lnb etc about 35ish

the cams you mean like diablo and dragon will decode hacked channels when programed with a loader card but the tm 1500 will do that without as it can be patched

Brilliant that Wod,thanks mate, been looking at the gear that you've mentioned and now have even more questions, here goes, how much more money would it be to make the dish motorised (How much more difficult to fit and is it worth it) any particular brand/make of LNB, (and what spec) Thanks once more,The Soulman.

not alot more as i have a moteck sg-2100a diseqc motor which will work fine on the gibertini dish , just suggested it as its aluminum dish so will be nice and light if its going to go quite high up

the motors are about 29 quid ish on ebay (160056712967) and are easy to fit

lnb wise theres not really a best lnb for that dish but what people recommend is the smart titanium 0.2db lnb or the sharp 0.2db lnb

art 6 month card i got mine off ebay from the seller off auction 130053669127 it came very quick

wod

It's thanks once more Wod,I really appreciate your comments/help/advice and for taking the time to reply to my questions (There will probably be more to follow in the near future :)) May I ask,are you an installer or a (More experienced) DIY man like myself,Thanks again,The Soulman. (Also, what are you doing up at this time????? :))

well i'm not an installer just a DIY it man. If you can use a drill and able to get up a ladder then best to have a go and fit it yourself

i bought my kit off ebay and thought lets have a go and fit it all up, which was successfull, only had my system for a few weeks

theres some good packages on ebay like this one (320040886005) then just buy a reciever you like/ has features you want
