I have acquired 2 white sky cards from car boot sales. I have had them in sky digiboxes for over 1 week now and both still show message "wrong card for this set top box". Does anybody know of what to do?

it sounds like the card have missed their signal to keep them active.
in my experience the new cards can only be reawoken in the sky bxoes that they were originally paired to...but I have heard reports of them being woken up after 2 or 3 weeks in receiver they were not paired to.
Or contact sky and get them turned back on again...if you can blag around their questioning...

I had this message last week on a sky subscription card that hadn't been used for a while. I was a bit worried but after a night in an unpaired box it was back to normal, showing all the non-premium channels as before.

I don't think Sky will help him as technically the cards are their property and cannot be "bought and sold".

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I think if you do a new install in the engineer menu, you might be able to restore them, but that said you'll need to plug the box into a phone line to let it do what it does to re-activate the cards (I did this a couple of times on my now duff yellow house cards back when I had dishes up (incidentally, I have seen these cards for sale at carboots too, telling the seller that they're useless as a sky card now just gets the response "It'll get the free channels", which is utter bullpoo), much faster than waiting for a signal to come through), once they're active, unplug the phoneline and enjoy... :)

If they haven't been activated then they're probably useless as it's unlikely Sky will activate cards which have been replaced.
