does anyone use anything like the Netgear Orbi or the Asus Lyra or similar to extend the WiFi throughout the home?

Also interested. I get patchy reception in parts of my house and virtually none in the garden.

Seems the Bt offering uses a separate ssid so roaming from one to the other is a bit of a pain according to the write up I have just read.

The Bt setup is one of the cheaper options, but I don’t think it will do my needs.

It seems 5 days ago bt pushed new firmware out and broke most people’s setups.

I use Ampedwireless routers and range extenders exclusively now, can't beat the performance.

Do you notice any throughput speed drop using these?

Nope, they are true gigabit routers, what ever the WAN speed that comes in, goes out, and the LAN ports are 1000 Mbps, the WIFI is 300 Mbps TX and RX on the R1000 router that I use, and with a 600 mW RF output on the WIFI.

The AC2200 can go even faster, one thing tho, the WIFI devices need to get back to the router, if they can get back to the router with a good signal then you could have speed problems, this is why they also offer high power USB type adapters, this way your sure to get back to the router.

Code:

I use some of their adapters to get WIFI coverage down in the shop, it has metal walls, but with the USB adapter I can use the laptop without problems.
