I bought a silvercrest sl65 from lidle 2 years ago and I have set it up in the bedroom on a minidish on astra 2 and its fantastic there is so much free stuff that you just don't get with a sly box.
When the analouge signal is terminated will channel 4 & 5 become free to air does anyone know what the reason for encryption is and if or when it will be removed?
If 4 & 5 were available on this box I would be more than happy to use it all the time...

C4 & C5 are encrypted because they accepted encryption as part of their carriage deal with Sky.

Also both have a lot of Yank series on them nand to go fta would need to either be transmitted on Astra 2D or pay for the fta English language transmission rights for the whole of Europe.

C4 is likely to go fta next year when their current contract comes up for renewal.

C5 have no interest whatsoever in going fta.

None whatsoever at the moment. Their press department doesnt seem to understand the difference between fta and ftv and all comments from them refer to their signals being "fta"
