wi-fi usb stick works better with the rubber removed

Sounds disgusting.

But the rubber fell off the end of the stick and I couldn't put it on. It exposed two metal prongs.

Strange thing was the reception has vastly improved. With the rubber on the reception was fair but with it off it's excellent.

Strange ne. I can only guess that maybe the rubber affecting something radio wise. Perhaps it was slightly conductive and was acting as a dummy load. or perhaps it was not radio transparent and was affecting the impedance of the aerials.

Was it a cheap no-name or a branded item?

If the rubber was black, they may have used carbon in it as a dye, which would kind of affect reception...

Haha, it eventually packed up so I had to buy another and a repeater to boost the signal.

That's the trouble with not using the rubber - increased wear and tear
