So, she now has a Win 10 machine, small Dell laptop for her work.

Whilst I enthused about Firefox as a browser for the last few years, having run into some issues when using Explorer, she is getting daily prompts to install Edge (and to be honest I think it is already in there, though not used).

So, who uses MS Edge, will it open up a wormhole that cannot be closed and does it have any advantage as a browser over the usual suspects (Chrome/Mozilla/others ) ?

I use it for browsing the forum, but use firefox for everything else. Edge has recently had an update.
Firefox has a lot of options, but has become bulky, using more resources, than it used to.

I have use Vivaldi for some years now - seems to have the best features of Chrome and Firefox, without any notable issues.

I don't think Edge has the edge in any department.

Due to privacy issues with Edge, I delete it when ever I run across it, in my opinion all it does is take up room on the hard drive.

Info on the Edge privacy issues.....

The newer Chromium based version has rectified most of this.

"
It would also appear that users of the new Chromium-based version of the Edge browser, currently available for preview, will be spared the sending of the SID during SmartScreen requests. There is no indication that un-hashed URLs will stop being sent though, so it's not all good news.

"Given that this behavior has been removed from Chromium Edge," Migliano says, "it's clear Microsoft understands that this is not appropriate."

I use Edge, it in turn uses the Chrome engine, works well.
Likewise, it even feels like Chrome, but I only tried it properly after they rewrote it using the Chrome engine which I have used for years. Also all imports back and forth to Chrome, many years ago I used Firefox but it seemed to lose its way.

Thanks for the answers, since she has Firefox and Chrome already, I'll remove the Edge install/update requests from the list.

I continue to get similar prompts for Silverlight on the Win 7 tower btw.
