I have read AutoUpdate / How Does It works and the Eurocryp document but still do not understand many things. I will try again over this weekend.

I wonder if I can use this shortcut, just borrow a normal working smart card (pirated one that auotoupdatable) from a friend and read, copy and programme it to my Gold card.

it is an easy matter to read out the contents of the pic & eeprom on a pirate goldwafer card. First read the contents of the PIC. Then reprogram the PIC with a loader, which gives access to the eerpom. Then read the eeprom, and put back the original contents of the pic.
Then put the read-out files onto your other wafer in the usual way.

some PICs can have their protection removed (check out the optins in your PIC programming utilities - look for PIC "bust" options etc.)

A bust-PIC option exists for example in the "pic24c13" utility downloadable at Willem Kloosterhuis' site: http://www.willem.org/
Direct link: http://www.willem.org/ZIP/pic24c13.zip

Also in the "Gold" utility at the Digital FreeSat site: http://www.digitfreesat.cjb.net/
Look in the "softhard" section.
Here is the direct URL: http://digilander.iol.it/digitalfreesat/pic/gold.zip

although it may be that the bust PIC works only for the older 16c84 PICs (I read that somewhere). Anyway, try it.

CardMagic-2000 can also be found at the Digital FreeSat site

thanks 2old for your reply, and as always the best help we can find.

for the "bust" utility, i was talking about PIC 16F84 . do you think gold software etc. can work on this as well ?

is card magic the new name for card master ?

thanks again.

Oops, sorry, obviously NOT the best help... I mis-read your request....
CardMaster and CardMagic are NOT the same thing.

CardMaster2000 you can find via Digital FreeSat too.
Here the direct link:

Copy from: pirated golf card
Write to: PIC 16X84 card

The MP6 or "Elvis" is a very versatile, easy to use programmer.

Program's pic16f84/24c16 cards no problem. A full manual can be found @ -:

If the copying is successful, will the new card autoupdatable too?

By the way, my recent downloaded Multiprogrammer 6 doesn't work with the hardware I have. Only Multiprogrammer 5.93 works.

How do I determine the type of card that I borrow from a friend?
ISO7, ISO3, RB7? I am afraid to destroy the data, if I use Autodetect function to find out!

Thanks.
