Will the old Sky Cards be cut off

Yes. Mine has been already.

The rest will follow within two or three months.

What do you use yours for? FTV or Subs?

ie Can you cope without one or do you anticipate jumping through hoops to get a new one (Spanish location noted).

Mine died yesterday..

I had the full package.. and was gutted as i aint sure about this NewCS malarky .. but gonna have to now..

All i have now is the FTV

Surprised to read your comment, I went and checked the entitlements on my own card. It was switched off in the past 48hours without me noticing it.

I checked the entitlements a few days back, and the card had received updates to keep it alive till early January.

I too will have to start reading up on NewC.

How do you read your entitlements? We have the full package which we got through a third party here in Spain who was raided by the Guardia and closed down. I then set up a new contract with Sky using a UK address but now cannot get the old one cancelled by the bank as it was a continuous payment which I didn´t know about. So now we cannot get the new one authorise until they cut the old one off for not putting the new card in! Complicated I know.

What do you mean by "continuous payment", is this on your credit card? Is it direct to Sky?

According to an article in the current Wotsat magazine there are indeed more anti card share restrictions to be implemented once the white card roll out is complete.

hello ziggyblue
i saw this and there may be an answer.
if you have a other credit card have the new white card set up on a different card and cancell the old one.
if you have other payments coming from the older credit card then for example, phone bill or other payments are there swap them to another card and have the bank issue a new card.
then the old credit card shuts down sky will not be able to get a payment and will shut down the old white card fron the spanish dealer.
meanwile you updated the new white card through the uk dealer and the problem is solved.

most people have more that one credit card now a days.
hope this heilp you
have a good day

Nope Ralph, it doesn´t work that way. I paid what I thought was a direct debit but in reality it was a "continuous payment" which they can take for ever and a day. I actually closed the account it was coming from and the bank without my say so switched it to another account. I have yelled I have sworn but they will not cancel it.

Unfortunately ziggyblue is correct about continuous authority on a credit card.

I have posted this before but it is worth posting again. If you have sgned up to continuous authority on a credit card you CAN'T get out of it simply by cancelling your credit card.

The ONLY WAY to stop the monthly charge is to cancel the contract with the supplier

Exactly but you cannot do this with Sky from Spain as the address they are holding for this card is not yours but some unknown persons. Nightmare scenario.

On a different note we were getting the insert your new card sign every few minutes. We took the card out of the box and put in our very old card which we had seven years ago and which we keep in our portable tv just to watch Enders whichout interruption. When we put the other card back in to record some stuff later the message seems to have stopped but can´t understand why.

This has to be illegal.. Surely you cant be expected to pay for a service that you are no-longer being issued with..

A trip to a lawyer would be in order ..

Providing your new card is at a different address (in the UK) and on a different bank account/credit card then simply phone Sky and say you are having problems viewing in say Malaga and can they recommend a local installer to solve your problem.:cool: They should close the account within minutes.

A rather grey area legally as the contract has been opened fraudulently.

Actually that is a good one. But then the sky plus box is useless. Continuous or recurring payment is legal if immoral. Apparently more and more companies are now jumping on the bandwagon to use it. I think it is the fact that the bank treats you as a criminal for trying to stop it when you no longer require it.

hello ziggyblue
perhaps i am not understanding whats going on.
i have been doing this for 20 years.
if the spanish dealer was been then more than likely the credit card is your number but some oneelse address in the uk.

right now you have 2 cards accounts on the same box.
the one from spain and the one from the uk.
is the one in the uk in your name and on your credit card??
you could have 5 ot 10 cards using the same card number under different name.
sky would not know at all.
if you have a another card like master card set up the new sky uk account using the new master card.
then the old visa which in on the spanish account call the bank have them block the card on all transactions and have them issue and new card number.

the guys in spain used your visa under another name.
if your name was john blue for example and one card and use blue johnson and blue jones and blue smith all 4 could be tied to the same visa.

and all going to the same uk address as well.

if both sky cards are white and going to the same sky box it shows that sky does not know the differents.
take your new white card with the uk address and have them set up on another credit card not tied to the spanish card.
when you see sky takes the payment on the other credit card then cancell the old card and you have it.
if both cards and on the same credit card and you cancell you will be off the air and we don't want this

hello ziggyblue
i just read your information again and i understood.
is the sky spain charging you the standard sky rate?
if for example the full package is 40 pounds a month and the charge is 40 per month and its still working then keep going with that.
unless the spanish guys are charging you extra per year to maintain the account.
you would get for examle 40 per month sky charge and 100 pounds spanish store charge per year.
or they probally charge a set up fee and sky does a monthly fee.
how much are they charging per month??

want to give you as much info as possible to help
ralph:)
