Wind launches IPTV

Wind Telecomunicazioni, the Italian telco owned by Egyptian entrepeneur Naguib Sawiris, has launched its new IPTV offer, including channels from Sky Italia.

Called Infostrada TV, it is based on a classic structure with access to all free to air digital terrestrial channels (RAI 1-2-3, Mediaset Canale 5, Italia 1, Rete4, La7, MTV, AllMusic, Sport Italia, SI Live 24, kids channel Boing) and a package of international channels (Euronews, BBC World, TV5, TVE among the others). The channels are all included in the monthly fee of EUR7.

Activation of the service is priced at EUR99 (now at a promotional price of EUR49.50) and it includes also the Infostrada TV Box which has PVR features including 100 hours of possible recording.

Additionally, Wind subscribers will have access to all premium services of digital satellite pay-TV operator Sky Italia with various options starting at EUR36 per month for combined basic and cinema or sport channels (now on promotion until the end of February 2008 at EUR15).

Wind Telecomunicazioni is the third Italian operator that has an IPTV service available to its customers. The other competitors are Telecom Italia (Alice TV) and Fastweb.
