Anyone got this yet?

Just released for general download and also going on the Windows Update mechanism with a rolling release.

Tried to install it on my 32GB Linx 1010, but I couldn't free enough Disk Space.

Currently in the process of creating a Bootable USB Stick, which would get round that issue, but the same Tool that converts the .iso can also be used as an alternative way to upgrade in situ and apparently doesn't need half as much spare Disk Space as the WU method.

I didn't have any choice. With every update on Windoze 7 my PC has become that slow that i have had to upgrade to make my PC usable again. Had to spend about an hour switching off all the crap in windoze 10.

Had to manually remove Microshaft store using Powershell and switch off one of the update processes that was running my cpu up to 55%, Finally switching off all the Spyware including in this version.

There is so much crap running in the background that has to be switched off to make it usable.

I dont care what anyone says Microshaft are knobling Windoze 7 & 8 to force people to upgrade.

Yes, have spent some time looking at the latest Candycrushanniversary Pastel10 and what goes on in the ip connections\telemetry\spying dept., it's incredible (but hey, one ticks "agree" while installing it :O) The amount of bloatware and crap + telemetry is beyond belief.

Have deleted (from disk) all apps, onedrive, cortana, the 5th class edge, crapstore, and added stuff in hosts + firewall, it's now slowly starting to be my own laptop again as the constant ip connections have ceased, am left with a somehow useable os.

Problem is, later getting any of of their large updates again and it'll wipe most personal fixes and reinstall all the detritus.
Still long time until I'll start using this crazy thing as main os. Just for experience and testing ftm.

btw, new o&o shutup10 is out, silencing the Cortana bitch.

8.1 works perfect here on several pc's (apps, store etc wiped), seeing no sign of sabotage, very fast security update downloads, the upgrade to 10 harassement downloads ended, all well.

Attachments, example from fresh install w10 network activity shortly after boot, me doing next to nothing (and no web browsing).

Got a Win 10 2in 1 for £125 after my Netbook reached pensionable age and found Win 10 to actually be a useful, nay very good, OS.

But the Anniversary Update has just been released, so I'm in the process of installing that.

I had hoped this Topic wouldn't go the way of other Win 10 Threads and end up being an oft repeated rant about spying etc, but it looks doubtful right now!

Still running Mint and Lubuntu on other machines, so got the best of all worlds.

Ok, all done.

For clarity, this is not upgrading Windows 10 itself, from the November 2015 release to this month's Anniversary release.

Those with large Hard Drives should be able to await Windows Update roll-out or can manualy upgrade using the Tool here. A minimum of 16GB free space is required.

For those with smaller Drives, use the Tool here, which gives the option of create a Bootable USB stick or directly upgrading the device. It only requires 8GB free space and coped well with my Linx 1010.

Follow the instructions here

First impressions .... more user friendly and significantly faster.

Will take a while to get used to the changes, but that's part of the fun.

I do like Windows 10. I've only used it for a few days but it's a vast improvement on Windows 8. I don't like all the data collection it does though but that can be turned off... after a lot of messing about.

Indeed. The Privacy issues have been done to death on earlier Threads.

Just one minor hitch is that the Upgrade binned my Epson SX510W Printer/Scanner Drivers, so I had to re-install the Printer using a generic Epson Driver.

Just Downloaded the specific ones direct from Epson and will install those.

Minor issue.

Am getting your point. Sorry for the intrusion (but as w10 is spying\telemetry (with some os added) it's a little difficult to avoid that dept. :O)

About the interface, still the mixed mess and swaps between sc 'modern' and 'old' regarding control panel\settings, would have hoped they'd have managed some improvement for this in this latest build, looks like 10 will stay an eternal testlab :O)

I'll end with some general 10 positives:
Got native print to pdf.
Task view\several desktops is nice.
All my (dozens of) preferred programs (and anything connected with usb) still work fine in 'anniversary', no compatibility problems.

Having started a new build with O/S on a pull out HD caddy (win7 64 bit) ....
I think my new build might be able to cope with the Win10 clutter ...and Im now a little curious to see what all the fuss is about ..
So ...I could easily clone the stable Win7 O/S to another drive ...and upgrade a copy to win10 ...
IF it is still available for free upgrade ?
I'd probably just shelve it after an initial squint at it ..
So ...is it sill available free ?
I have a 1tb drive going begging to do this on ?

Date have passed. Have not tried any of this, but seems there are two possibilities still, either enter a 7\8 valid activation code (retail?, and will probably invalidate the code for any later use\install of 7\8) or this trick if still active Here's how to get Windows 10 for free -- still

What I can say is that after installing\activating any free 10 install here on a dedicated hd, the old 7 & 8.1 os's on other hd's still works and stay activated when swapping hd's back on the same pc (so far at least, unless ms changes something).

Well, I've been using it intensively without a hitch.

Battery life, which was already excellent, is further improved, too.

The only minor gripe, and it really is minor, is that the Action Centre icon in the System Tray has been shifted to the right-hand corner and cannot be move by the User.

If that's all I have to whinge about, the job's a good 'un!

Started the upgrade of Win7-64 when I got home from work having dropped a clone of the OS on a seperate drive ..
That was over 2 hours ago ...
Still in process atm
The download completed and apparently the upgrade is in process ...currently at 92%
So I guess I'll know soon enough..
Presumable this wont happen until I re-boot anyway ..
Time for another cuppa ..
;)

Already Win10 has removed Intels rapid storage Technology as it claims 'App No longer Available' for this O/S ?

Check out some of the other Win 10 Threads hereabouts, E.

It's all been covered in glorious and tedious detail.

Suffice to say, we all make our own choices and some users are more pernickety than others ....!

One thing I don't think has been covered much are the endless Apps that have no value.

Fortunately a rightclick on them, in the Prog List, is all that is needed to nuke most of them.
