Sad to say, Michael Winner has finally passed away after a pretty horrid time since consuming a seemingly innocuous oyster five years ago

We don't have many larger-than-life characters these days, and now we have one less.

Notoriously tetchy as an Interviewee and for saying "I'll walk ......................", he finally has.

RIP, Sir.

Apparently it was a liver condition that finally did for him. And you say it was caused by an oyster?

Anyway, RIP Michael, you were worth watching.

The history is somewhat lengthy, but basically Yes.

Poor chap survived the Vibrio Vulnificus but became emaciated, had many many operations and was rendered vulnerable in many respects.

I followed his Sunday Times pieces faithfully - he reported his condition and its progress in relatively light-hearted fashion as an aside to the wonderful food critiques - and I was hugely impressed by his stoicism in the face of adversity.

An interesting character with a lot to say and very much worth listening to. RIP Michael.
