Here we go again - the first autumnal storm is about to roar across the country so we can wave goodbye to the summer thread and happily start the winter thread....

Let's not Happily start the thread AS ..inevitable though it may be ..
I hate storms ...I hate strong westerlies..I hate decommissioned dishes ....But most of all ..I hate WINTER.
another few months of turning on the central heating ..sparingly and worrying about the bills.
another few months of wishing my life away a month at a time 'till Sol once more graces us with its presence.
another few months of early nights to bed ..and no 'playing out' with my beloved dishes...and getting depressed whilst rubbing Iburofen gel on my aging aching joints.
cest la vie

...and to rub salt in ..the countown clock reaches zero for me on the 27th of this month..
Born in 1957 ...and I reach the age of 57 ...
after that I'll be in negative territory ..
I wont we celebrating ..it makes me even more sad.

Just think about me and SWMBO trying to conquer Skiddaw and Blencathra in the next few days!

I will be thinking about you G ..and Mrs G ..
Brave though you both are ...don't get blown away ..
bad news I can manage without..
Enjoy the Hike ..
;)

Saturday looks ok, wetness wise. We're fairly fit ATM, so are quite happy to launch straight into a proper mountain.

And I've got some new waterproof trollies.

Day off Sunday but have got some Bell Ringing lined up.

We'll take the rest as it comes.

Blimey VS.....three days before me...though I went into 'negative' in 2000.....I'm looking forward to my pension next year LOL....

There was frost on the car windscreen this morning and by eck there was a nip in the air. The fields alongside the lane were covered in hoar frost - & the council workmen were in at the school cutting the sports field!

Us Scorpios do like to get maudlin and depressingly poetic dont we ...
lol

Sadly, those of us who consider the Solstice to demark the old and new year have been left behind by Gregory and his pesky calendar.

Negative...age?
Just me being a bit of a misery ..feeling sorry for myself at getting older..
and cold weather just round the corner..
Now is the winter of _my_ discontent ..etc etc
;)

Could be worse, at least you're not in the arctic with no clothes on, THAT would be depressing to experience...:-rofl2

Urgh - its foul here now, its pouring with rain, so all the weak signals have disappeared :(

Its been a lovely day here in Sheffield, I've spent all afternoon in the front garden cutting mowing and weeding. then gave the car a treat and gave it a wash.

Been another sunny, warm and dry day here. Despite that I've been stuck in the loft space above my kitchen trying to replace the flue pipe for my Rayburn (in preparation for Winter of course). Two 45 degree stainless steel joints later I've discovered the 'flexible' flue pipe to link them isn't that flexible...and it's really sharp...

Despite the fact there are millions of tons of water falling out of the sky - we have water supply problems. The farm lads are trying to find a break in the pipe thats draining the farm water supply as fast as it can fill.....

Ah well - have to drink beer tonight :D

It's always amusing to hear that this damp squib of an island is short on water, despite being surrounded by it, and flooded by it, and rained on by it, yet we never have enough water... :-rofl2

I'd seriously consider upgrading from a tent at this time of year.

How about a bivouac ?

One hook, that's all that holds them up, one hook, and if that fails, you're going to go kersplat, but at least everything would be contained in a handy sleeping bag and tent... :-rofl2
