Word of warning for new Passion+ owners

For any other new Passion+ owners, do not make the same mistake as me. Only install the official Passion+ firmware update DO NOT install the regular Passion updates, if you do it will disable your USB ports and make it impossible to re-flash the firmware. I now need to have a conversation with Fortec Star on Monday morning to see if they can help.

No, Fortec in Sheffield are going to do it my RS232 for me when I get it over to them.

I have done the same, so need some uploader program so that I can transfers the correct firmware via the RS232 as the usb are not resposding. Any help on this appreciated.

Fortecstar1 - are you able to make the rs232 software update app available for the Passion + HD (either via link or personal email) - live on south coast so wont be able to bring it to Sheffield to have an update done.

I would also be very interested in being copied on software, my unit died and I used the right firmware but did not update the loader first. Fortec UK support suggested firmware update and didnt mention loader. I foolishly fixed something that was mostly working and now its dead. Thanks.

Passion/Passion+/Innovation RS232 Download Manager & Instructions as requested.

This requires a Null Modem cable, and if your PC/Laptop does not have a RS232 Port, USB/RS232 converters are easily available on ebay etc

Always update the Loader first to v1.50, if necessary, and then install the latest firmware available - currently V1.45 for Passion, and v1.30 for Innovation & Passion+.
These are available from the Fortec Star Download page. The loader is common to all 3 models, but the firmware must be for the correct model.

It is critical that you get every stage of this process absolutely correct :-

• Power off the P+ using the front panel button first
• Start Download Manager on the PC
• Then select the correct COM port in Setup - its not necessarily COM1
• Selected your file in the Righthand window
• Click on Download
• Wait a few seconds just to make sure the DM is in a 'ready to transmit' state, power the P+ up using the front panel window.

The only time it doesnt work for me is when I get 1 of the above wrong.

PS and make you have updated the Loader to v1.5 first if necessary, using the above method, before updating the firmware.

PPS and please make sure you are attempting to load the correct firmware for your Passion (v1.45) or your Passion+ (v1.30)
