I even did not see that from another side of threaded rod is scale. Hammer wold not do proper job, perhaps some kind of milling cutter. Honestly, do you really use that scale during adjustment of antenna? I do not think so.

LOL ...like you I dont see the need for a scale ...but yes Id grind it flat ...not hammer it ;)
The hammer is reserved just to flatten the rod end and make the eye fixing ..

Another new part, a probably unused at least nearly new Venture Skylighter 12" Actuator needs a coat of hammerite in places and was missing a few nuts, bolts and washers which have been replaced, but works properly. :-righton

Another great job !! puts me to shame, ive just purchased another mount (cheap) will refurbish in due course but hadnt thought about doing the motor apart from getting it going. im going to have to give it a coat of paint at least now.

Tried the actuator using a Workmate style table outside with length of 3" pole in the gap and tightened up placed Polar Mount on and tested it with the actuator with a v-box both seem to work properly.

Honestly I think I enjoy collecting the bits this way as much as I will the dish when its setup.

I agree, even though i have 3 working dishes i cant stop looking for more at the right price! i have just purchased a 1m cm dish and polar mount, the dish is just in case i ever have any planning issues with my 1.2 dishes (i can just swap the dish face) the mount for a little refurbishment project and the actuator to go on the shelf with the other 4 spares for a rainy day. its the whole process i enjoy, finding the gear, then collecting it. i once went from the south coast to north yorkshire in a day to collect a dish!(when fuel was cheaper) Then the refurbishment process bringing old gear back to life! Finally to start watching tv, then theres the feed hunting, trying to get that signal you can see but not lock, pushing the limits of your equipment plotting and planning. Dont really get time for tv watching!!
