Would you do a six-mile run if you were twenty-two stones?

Radio 5 host Stephen Nolan (that picture above is very out of date!!) is gonna run six miles for Sport Aid in eight weeks time.

The trouble is, he's twenty-two stones and VERY UNFIT.

Speaking on the radio last night, he said he was 'determined' to do it. Others say he is mad to do it. Some callers rang in saying they were now gonna donate money to the Heart Foundation charity, because Stephen will be needing it after he's had his heart attack.

I frankly don't think he's up to it. Even if he sheds weight before the run, he's still gonna be twenty-stones AT LEAST if he's lucky!

And watch him running on a tread mill. :D

What do you think? :)

I'm 17 stone and wouldn't try it!!! I'd walk it maybe, but not run, he'll have ruined feet by the end of it all!!!

If he does do it (and I have my doubts, speaking as an unfit 11.5 stone person) he will burn off 1386 calories. A Big Mac with super size fries contains 1230 calories, so he could soon put it back on if he ended his run in an appropriate establishment!!

To find how many calories you burn per mile whilst running, multiply body weight in pounds by .75.

That brings back memories :bayern

Memories, did I say memories? Strange, a similar word is on the tip of my tongue and I just can't get it out.

Ironic then, that Elaine Paige, a very petite person, had a hit with a song by that very name.

As someone whose weight is in that area I just would NOT do any running because of the stress it puts on the knees. I took up exercise a couple of years ago in an attempt to try to reverse some of the effects of a lifetime's good living but I make sure that all my work is non-impact on the cross-trainer and weight machines.

I haven't lost any weight but I like to think that I am a bit healthier. My BP and cholesterol are commendably low - perhaps a combination of good genes and exercise?

Stephen Nolan has always had trouble with his weight. He lost weight last year which brought him down to 15 stones. But in the four months from August to December last year he PUT ON SIX STONES.

People say if you eat a lot you get fat, but I well and truly believe some people are naturally skinny and some people put weight on just by looking at food!

I favour ones with an elastic waistband for future expansion...................oh, those genes :-ohcrap:-ohcrap

After one 'expansive' winter, I put on 20 pounds. As a result my jeans and other trousers didn't fit me properly. Rather than throw out my entire wardrobe (my clothes, not the furniture), I bought a pair elasticated jeans, which had a very high waist band.

Anyway, I wore them for six weeks while I lost the weight. Ooh, the secrets I give away. ;)

Muscle weighs heavier than fat so weight alone doesn't tell the whole story

Thanks for that, I know that muscle is denser than fat but I'm still more Mr Blobby than Mr Muscles!

I just received a (completely anonymous) email today asking for funding of a charity run consisting of one rather unfit b'stard.

No, it's the same bloke of course, but the website for donations could be anyone on the other end of a PC, anywhere in the world.

Yes I take your point but 3D secure sites are expensive to implement even more so for something like this
