Xbox 360 to offer European VOD service

UK gamers will have access to on-demand films in both standard and high definition via their Xbox 360 when the console's LIVE Marketplace VOD service launches next Tuesday, December 11.

The service will offer 25 movies at launch including Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Zodiac, the Matrix and Ocean's Eleven. Standard definition movies will cost 250 Xbox Points around £2), while HD movies are priced at 380 Xbox Points (around £3).

The service, which was launched in the USA last year will also launch in Canada, France Germany and Ireland.

"We want to give them [consumers] the entertainment they want, in the format they want, when they want it and at an affordable price", said Robin Truchy, Director of Xbox LIVE for Europe, Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division. "Xbox Live Marketplace Video Store in Europe is all about adding to the ever-expanding number of entertainment choices that our consumers have on their Xbox 360."
