On the ford theme; in 1977 I had a ford granada (previously consul) 3.00 GL silver with a black vynal roof. In it's day it only used to be beaten by V8 rover TC.

Nice car, that Granada. They broke the mould after that. Mine was a 3.0 Ghia auto. Was sad to see it go but as an impoverished new dad it had to go. I replaced it with an Allegro :( . I can still remember driving home feeling more and more depressed.

With the quartic steering wheel or the later one with a regular shaped wheel?

They definately were good cars and the body panels had metal in them!! After that I then progressed on to the square shaped granada, 5 speed manual 2.5 (that went like the clappers too).

Yep.....loved mine, seemed to me that all the Fords that I had were very reliable.
Had this 2.9 Ghia 4WD sprayed before delivery in what I thought was a clean line appearance which went well with the printing industry image!

Then girlfriend said 'it looked like an ice cream van'.........car stopped, she was later replaced by a newer model!

Whatever, it was a pleasure to drive.

Sad but picture again related to the railway hobby. :D

Morgans also have a body substructure made from ash, though I doubt your farmer friend has a couple of them lying around.....

I think through the sixties and seventies Ford had a great appeal for enthusiasts.... The Escort Mk1 and Mk2 (and the Anglebox before that) were successful rally cars as were early Cortinas, but it seemed to start to fade after that. OK, so there were the XR3 and XR4 but they were (I'm not sure if this sounds fuddy duddy) ostentatiously styled by the factory and 'getting the ECU chipped' doesn't have the same oily fingered enthusiast's appeal as the 'any engine fits any Ford' mantra of bygone days.

Still, kids today, eh? I know a 21 year old - fancies a Honda Civic!

That is NOT a Triumph Sheerline - there was no such model. It is an Austin A125 Sheerline
