Youtubeplayer for dreamboxes (600pvr and 7020) with openembedded enigma1 images.

The plugin will ask for libcurl.so.3. But the attached libcurl.so.2 will be ok - change the name to libcurl.so.3 and ftp to /usr/lib and chmod 755.

The plugin .so and .cfg to /usr/lib/tuxbox/plugins and chmod 755 for the .so.

The .xml file to /etc/tuxbox/config.

Tested with vlc media player 0.8.6a and XP Pro.

Enjoy !

Cheers, PCD.

Hi PCD,
Thanks for the plugin.

Could you please provide a brief explanation of how to run the plugin.

I've installed all the files, modified the XML file accordingly, loaded VLC 0.8.6a, enabled the web interface on port 8080.

When I run the plugin, it loads a list of youtube videos. When I try to play a video I get a connection error.

Am I missing something simple?

Regards,
C :)

PS: The webinterface port is not blocked on the server in any way. I can connect to it from a different machine.

For some reason either vlc is not streaming out or the plugin cannot receive the stream.

Do you see the slider in vlc (on pc) move right ?

If so vlc is streaming. Then the question is - have you used vlc before with any other plugin ?

Cheers, pcd.

I hadn't noticed whether or not the slider was moving. I'll check later.

Yes, I have used VLC via a dreambox plugin before. I've been using it with VLCf.

I'll have another fiddle with it this evening, and I'll double check that VLCf is still working with VLC.

Thanks,
C :)

Thanks for this great Plugin.
Using DM7000, VLC 0.9.4, I also got the same message as compufunk.
VLC is definitely not streaming.
To check whether VLC is still working well, I tried it with VLCF and played a small .avi file (converted from a You Tube file) and VLC worked OK.
To be able to play such files directly with this YouTubePlugin would be great.:)

Edit:-Re-tried with vlc 0.8.6a....got the same result as above.

Did you put in your pc-ip in the file youtubeplayer.xml ?

If so, please try this :-

telnet commands (assume you are using a dm7000) :-

killall rcS
killall enigma
enigma>/tmp/enigma.log 2>&1 &

Then start vlc on the pc and try the plugin stuff. Then please pm me the file /tmp/enigma.log.

Cheers, pcd.

@compufunk

Thanks for your pm with the log. It seems you get a HTTP 1.1 200 OK response instead of the usual HTTP 1.0 200 OK response.

Did you change the admin password in the .xml or did something to vlc authorisation ?

Anyway, I patched the plugin (attached) to accept a 1.1 response also. Please test it ! :)

Cheers, pcd.

Hi
Yes I edited my .xml file accordingly.
I attach a .jpg showing the result of the telnet command
But I cannot attach the enigma.log file by PM as I don't have
the facility to do so.
Thanks.

I have reset all preferences in VLC and the username password in the XML file are correct.

The plugin now seems to be communicating with VLC.

It now starts buffering then gives the same error as above. (Could it be running out of buffer space?)

The screenshot of the webif hows that vlc has requested the video from youtube.

On one occasion I got the error here.

On exiting the plugin, enigma crashed every time since the new .so file was loaded.

I've PM'd you with the log.

Cheers,
C :)

Sorry, I do not know what the problem is. Buffer size is not a problem.

My test setup :-

dm600pvr

youtubeplayer.xml pc-ip edited - no other change at all.

VLC player on pc - as installed - then setup for http as described in the youtubeplayerE1a thread - no other change at all.

It works ok.

Cheers, pcd.

For some reason vlc cannot be connected by the plugin. If I can think of something I will post here.

In my (and many other users) case the vlc responds with HTTP/1.0 but in your case with HTTP/1.1. Don't know why !

What is your windows os ? And the image ?

Cheers, pcd.

hi PCD ive just managed to get your plugin to work, but could only manage it with vlc 0.8.6
at first i had the same error message as a few posts up,so i reinstalled vlc 0.9.8 again on a different drive and now if i open 0.8.6 and then the plugin, all is ok,so i think the problem is related to the 0.9.8 version.

now to my problem,as i stated it works, but it only fills half of the tv screen, the other half just has lines in it,but everything is fine using vlcf 1.80 and streaming avi's.im using a 7020 running nabilosat darkstar.any ideas?

Hi Ian,

I tested with Gemini 4.60. Have not tried Nabilosat.

How did you remove vlc 0.9.8 completely ?

Cheers, pcd.

i removeded the program and then all associated files and folders that were left behind, then manually edited the registry.

i then installed 0.8.6 on my C: drive and reinstalled 0.9.8 on my E: drive(i have three 300gig sata drives)i also have 0.7.2 on my D: drive, this way i can run either version independantly.

ive searched the net for my problem regarding only getting half a screen and cannot find another post anywhere about it,most are similar to the posts in this thread.however,i cannot find anyone else who has got it to work with nabilosat,so maybe the plugin isnt totally compatable?

XP Media Centre Edition with SP3 + vlc-0.8.6a.

Gemini 4.6 on the test box.

VLC and its ins and outs are not a strong area with me, but I'll keep testing if you like. I know it will bug you till its been resolved ;)

Perhaps you could try what ian1095 has done (i.e. completely uninstall previous version of vlc + remove folder before installing 0.8.6).

Also I could not edit this in the first post :-

#########################
Problems with VLC media player on pc
#########################

If you have problems with vlc on pc - please uninstall all versions and then delete the folder 'vlc' in this location (for Windows XP/2000) :-

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\vlc\

and reinstall vlc 0.8.6.

#########################

Cheers. :)

Update:- With Windows XP SP3, DM7000 Gemini 4.40 on USB and vlc 0.8.6a (re-installed as suggested) got it to work but with only half the picture on the TV screen just as ian1095 stated earlier on.

I've just installed the same file (of the DM7000) on a DM500 and apart from the fact that it worked OK, the picture appeared on all the TV screen and not on half of it as in the case of the DM7000.
