Hello, thanks to the bargain dish thread, I now have a nice looking 2.3 prime focus dish, do I install this

Or this

My first thought is the prime focus I love them, I cant see me gaining much if anything installing the channel master, will have to try and find dish gain levels and compare.

I would like to but no real need for two dishes of similar size, reading up on the make of dish and my minds made up, prime focus it is :),

More lnb options for prime focus dish and it will perform better than the channel master, will order a Bullseye II feedhorn for it :)

I've never seen this type of H to H before, its certainly no toy, added bonus in the box is a brand new actuator :)

Congratulations! But I doubt that same size PF and offset dishes will have much different performance, unless they are fitted with not proper LNBs. Have fun with your toys @blademedia . Crazy you, in good sense of this word :-rofl2

Thanks, I will be installing the above with quality lnds, reading up this PF precision spun dish is just over 2dbi up on the channel master in KU, like you say not much in it, but 2dbi could be the difference between lock/no lock, I also have the option to install wings to make it a 3.1.

The last few days ive been reading good results on the Pansat DP-4 Dual C/Dual Ku Feed Horn, anyone using one, maybe another option to the bullseye 11

Fair enough - personal taste is, well, personal.

More lnb options for prime focus dish
Really? I would think the other way around - more combinations of Ku and Ka feeds matching the 0.6 f/D (or equivalent opening angle) of the CM are available.

and it will perform better than the channel master
Hmm.
What assumptions do you base that on? If we assume that the CM and Precision are both perfect in shape, the CM will have an (ever-so-slight) edge on the Precision.
Assuming the Precision is a true 2.3m (working area), the CM is slightly larger (almost 9% larger area), and has no interference from LNB/feedhorn.
The only point where there might be a difference as at Ka band, where the all-Alu dish might be a better reflector.
So... your mileage may vary.
Only real way to find out is to mount both - one after the other, and then provide proper hand-on evidence to answer the question of which is best! :)

But of course that's all just small stuff.

Good luck with the new PF - looking forward to seeing that mounted on the polar mount!! :)

I doubt that antenna itself can bring any db/dbi without proper feed installed. So, when we speak about performance we should speak about performance of the SAT-system. That is IMHO.

Antenna performance is measured in db/dbi and another I forget atm, Fact sheets state just over 2dbi :)

At which frequency are you taking these figures ?

I've not checked channel master Gain @ 4GHZ, but this is 38.6db remember db and dbi are different

Sorry you must have missed this ? the bulleseye 11 is one of the best horns in the world matched with a quality lnb like it will be

That's nice, I need a four port C/KU, don't want to mess around modifying things when quality is out there for PF dishes
