Marked as Encrypted but actually, as you report, clear.

Probably the next batch of Channels to be secured against C/S. Can't be much left now.

Not a glimmer.

i think sky are robbing people of money, this is why people are card sharing. also if they try to stop card sharing, the channels people are watching will lose viewers and will go the way of fox news, me thinks.

No signals now transponder switched off.

Thats a ridiculous argument. People pay what they think the service is worth. If you want the sport & the movies you pay the asked for amount (or negotiate a deal) If you dont want to pay you do without. The assorted pay TV companies secure their signals when piracy become a significant drain on their profits. If piracy levels are low they dont try very hard. 10 years ago many of the pay services were open but it took some effort. Its gone mainstream the last 4 or 5 years & now its worthwhile the pay services doing something about it.

The guys selling the cheapo boxes with the "gifts" are to blame.

Sky have virtually stopped CS in the UK, following in the footsteps of their other European brands.

Whatever one thinks of their charging regime, fraud, theft of copyright etc are not the answer.

Most of us can only afford a modest car, though some might covet more. But we don't go out and steal a more expensive one. Well, a few do, I suppose.

well then if people just want the basic channels why dont they go fta?

Eh? I don't understand the question?

Most of the "basic" Channels are FTA and a fair few that were tied into Encryption contracts have joined the FTA ranks once they were free to do so.

I can't see how that fits with, or somehow justifies, theft as an alternative.

Both Uk and IRE Sky boxes showing no signal here in the Canaries on discovery channels etc. They are still there on the old frequencies but the sky boxes have been mapped to look at another frequency as yet unknown. Will have to investigate later. Any info welcome
Thanks

Maybe this should get its own thread????

This is a transponder news section for all satellites and that includes stuff in the clear, stuff that is encrypted and stuff that is temporarily clear. (which is often the most interesting!) This particular thread is appropriate for this section so we will not be closing it.
