I use self install compression connectors, nip them up with your tool of choice and a perfect weather tight seal, plus most LNBF units have a pull down rain cover. I haven't used self amalgamating tape on an LNB for a long time and even where weather proofing on exposed connectors hasn't been used by previous installers, very seldom have I seen water ingress.
