They do break

There was a thread tying the serial numbers to the date of manufacture, somewhere.

Would the after purchase discussion on the Gibertini 1.25m dish not be better served if it was moved to the "DISH SETUP....." section?

Whilst I do agree with both moonbase & scopus about removing the detailed stuff about Stab motors & Gilbertini dishes from this thread, I think it would be a good idea to merge them with any reasonably applicable existing relevant threads, instead of creating entirely new ones, because that will not increase the oveall number of threads and it may effectively bring those old threads more up-to-date and make them more "complete".

...PS: what can anyone make of the S/N ("120401086") in terms of the age of the motor?
Just had a message back from Patrick, the guy from whom I bought the dish & motor, and he said that he had had the system for about 4 years - although he didn't say if it was new or not at that point, I suspect that it was because he didn't seem the type of person who buys much used equipment!

Jaeger 1224 with Channel Master 1.2m dish and wall stand with a Buy It Now Price of £240 or Make an Offer.
The Jaeger 1224 is worth the Buy It Now price on its own, it looks to be in very good condition. I cant see this lasting long on eBay before it is sold.

Pics of the STAB below (having cleaned it up a bit with a flapdisk on a drill)

However, will wait until you come over before opening it up as you know better what to look for
That's a late HH-120 as it has the satfinder, cleaned up quite nicely I must say.

Shame about that NPRM, I need one that will take 3" pipe.

Yes, it looks like it has hardly been used or has not been outside for very long. Compared to recent sales of 1224's I have seen on eBay it represents outstanding value and could possibly be bought cheaper via the Make an Offer option?

It seems there has been quite a bit of top notch satellite kit being sold from the Steel City recently, probably one of the top men selling redundant kit?

CH took that motor home with him this afternoon and may comment on it in the near future when he gets the time.

OK, I was waiting for your thoughts on that NPRM and so now will list it in the Classified in the next few days.

Update on the Gibby

CH was overhere today and we had a "musical chairs" session, i.e. taking down the TD88 from its motor and moving the TD110 on the same one, and then setting up the Gibby on the motor vacated by the TD110!

Very luckily, there was just enough clearance between the end of the Gibby feedarms and my greenhouse to avoid having to raise the dish further up the ground pole, and CH was very pleased (as am I!) with the results that he managed to get - I'll report a bit more when I have had a chance to explore what can now be received by that dish, and by the TD110 now that that is also far better aligned.

OTOH, I'd be very happy for CH to comment in more detail in advance of my doing that as he "lost me" more than a few times during the process, and can probably remember far better than I can as to what he achieved. BTW, he did say that the dish seemed to be in very good condition, and that it had been a bargain at that price.

We also put back a couple of the fixed dishes that I had removed in preparation for the Gibby installation, but that still means more work for 2 of them, and then also for the TD88 which is currently without a "home"! I also need to repair/relocate/replace some of the cables that had to be disconnected - and it will be "messy" and time-consuming.

OTOH again, some of that work may now have to wait a couple of weeks or more as - whilst CH was here - I had a phone call about my forthcoming knee op, which I was expecting to be late-on in July, to say that they had had a cancellation and could I go in for the op on Friday 5th July, i.e. a week on Friday (otherwise there could be a wait until early-mid August if I don't take the chance for next week)! Obviously I will be taking the chance :D - although it'll probably screw up a quite few other things (like SWMBO's bought & paid-for tickets to the Hampton Court Flower Show on Sat 6th July).
