Intelsat 901 / MEV1 mission

I wonder how big a dish you'd need to pick this up in the very east of Canada (Newfoundland etc)?

Not many people there to check I would imagine, but it's probably (one of) the only satellites carrying domestic channels from this side of the Atlantic on a satellite that's above the horizon in the East of North America as well as having them on a footprint that gets anywhere relatively near.

80 to 100cm dish.

The BBC needs to find a lot of savings. Long term the satback service has to be considered expendable. What does it matter if half a dozen houses lose service for a couple of days when the local transmitter sustaining feed falls over.

BBC licence fee receipts and expenditure

Do you guys also see these two transponders? they are not listed anywehre. They are Horizontal and not like other ones (v) on this satellite. i have lock on both
11674,H,29990,35,8PSK
11554,H,34280,14,NBC_QPSK

FC GD,

Just looked here on my Promax HD Ranger and neither of those signals can be seen here. I'm in the West of England.

oh ok, So you are in the center of the beam. Thank you very much for the confirmation Simone.

they are still there but much weaker. They are for sure from 30W but not listed there either.

Intelsat suffering in “challenging” environment

Intelsat’s Q2 results, to June 30th, were not impressive. The company is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy reconstruction as a ‘debtor in possession’ and it is near-certain that it will exit bankruptcy in a stronger position, but at the moment the negative news is extensive.

Good afternoon, i dont know if its a problem on my installation but suddenly decrease the signal and the weather is quite somebody experience the same?

Possible sun outage .
Yes possible, go to 0 and the other sats were fine tune in and without touch nothing already is recovering the signal to 10.25db. Should be the sun 40ºC right now and 19km/h wind speed.

Selling off some frequencies to mobile broadband has certainly limited the quality of Freeview that we have now in the UK,

I am surprised that nearly all TV's sold today only have a Freeview tuner ? My earlier Sony had Freesat as well but the latest one only has Freeview that will be obsolete within 5 years after the next frequency sell off,

We used to get BBC News HD & Quest HD ect but the signal is too weak for our communal UHF aerial system since the last frequency sell off :( as they have had to reduce the multiplex power due to lack of frequencies,

Looks like the future is Freesat it is a shame that the TV industry building TV sets seems oblivious to this & continue to flood the market with Freeview only TV sets
