There's also talk of scammers going round offering new aerials, while they may be taking advantage, a roof top aerial pointing at Pontop Pike or Emley Moor will work for many who currently rely on Bilsdale.
Plus a few bits of wire!
Not quite right..The original lattice mast was replaced by a cylindrical structure which collapsed in March 1969 under the weight of ice on the guy wires. The present structure is built of concrete and has stood the test of time...When Emley Moor was rebuilt it was to a different pattern using, basically, a big cigar tube instead of the previous latticework construction. It should be reasonably safe.

Well it was straight from memory! Not quite right...
Edit: Turns out to be Pontop Pike, which I've never managed to receive before.
Perhaps they were still upset that Bilsdale transmitted the (superior) North East & Cumbria version of BBC One in' t'republic?First Emley Moor and now Bilsdale......I suspect the Yorkhire Republic Liberation Army.
Saying that, tonight's Look North said that there was "thousands" of homes without signal now. Quite a reduction from the 500,000 figure they gave two days ago...
