Octagon to NVidia Shield 2019 Pro via Kodi: Nothing, no pic no sound

Does the TV have a web browser, if so you could try the receiver's WebIF. Or put a recording from the box onto an SD card or USB stick (or DNLA) and try it on the TV's media player. If that doesn't work I think the HEVC file can be extracted from a recorded .ts file (I've done it with H264 but not sure about HEVC).

well i can confirm the KODI PVR CLIENT method, doesn't work on Octagon SF8008 on this channel - just a green scrambled garbage screen.

at least we know now.

recording a file (octagaon SF8008), and playing it on VLC on pc works fine also....see attached for video info

EDIT - also playing the network stream (found via E2 WEBIF) direct via VLC works no problem:

It should have one, I’ll give that a go tomorrow.

I’m surprised that I didn’t even get sound with kodi but vlc gave video on the same device. All 4:2:0 channels worked on kodi, although they didn’t appear as crisp as they do on the receiver.

I tried the TV browser this morning, no luck whatsoever. However the browser didn't work for other channels too. I'll give the usb recording a go later.

Just tried using Safari on a MacBook Pro 2015. That only gave me sound, no picture.
VLC works very well on the same machine. I watched it for about two minute, there was one occasion when the picture did go blocky for a split second, but that possibly could be due to network issues? MacBook is connected via Wifi to the router

On VLC on an iPhone XS Max. It worked ok ish, not great though. When I tried to cast to the shield, I couldn't get that working.

Did you get any sound on kodi?

In VLC, is there anyway to play the current channel from the receiver without typing/copying the full address?

On my system using OpenWebif click the little tv and VLC opens and plays.Screenshot 2021-12-07 at 17-27-27 Zgemma H9 S - OpenWebif.webp

Works perfectly on Kodi running on an Xbox One X :)

Can anyone recommend further/higher bandwidth feeds to try?

Thanks

There are a bunch of 4:2:2 feeds on 7.0E tonight for the Champions League matches but all biss encrypted. They are higher bit rate than Al Forat.

I tried 11081 H 9873 on 7e - Ajax vs Sporting Lisbon

Not as good as the other one. It was suffering from a fair bit of motion blur at first. Turning post processing on and then back off again made it better. There is some like ghosting now, not sure if that’s the right word.

Having let it run now for a few minutes it is watchable, but not perfect.
