Nowt to be scared about that I can think of?

Hobby satellite dx stuff is about trying stuff out, if something does not work then there are plenty of people on here who will try to help out.
You just gotta crack on, install the dish or swap out the LNB and see what you get. Endless theoretical waffle aint gonna sort anything out, dirty hands gets things done.

I have seen a few on eBay recently, selling less than £400

I am fairly sure "CH" from this forum picked up a reet tasty Channel Master 2.4m dish not so long ago at a good price from eBay?
If it is the dish I am thinking of it sold for somewhere in the region of £200 +/- the price of a bowl of rice.

Found one of them, unsold at £200 starting bid, real bargain.

Shipping is not that expensive, I have shipped several dishes from Belfast to the UK including a 2.4m single piece dish.
Last time I did it I got the 2.4m dish and another 2.0m single piece dish in the same load from door to door, Belfast to Surrey for just over £300 shipping cost, no VAT, just folding green.

Get one of the Irish transporters who do regular runs to the UK to collect it on their way back.
They will be happy to earn wages on the return trip home.

If you want the dish you gotta wad up, no point having short arms and deep pockets in the satellite hobby.
Or get in the motor and on the ferry like Nelson did.

There’s the “man in the van” back and forward daily to IRL/UK. Visit the port and ask around. They’re a hungry lot. They’d sell their granny for a score and throw in the grandad for good measure.

Travel with them so. They’re doing the trip daily. A nights sleep in the cab will be worth it if you get the dish you want at the right price and you’ll get the pleasure of loading and securing yourself at both ends. That’s what “big dish dudes” do isn’t it. Get that glass half full and forget about the half empty one.

Excuses, excuses...

I have had no problems with transporting decent size dishes from Ireland to the UK and from UK to UK locations.
Dish sizes I have had transported of 1.8m and above have been 1.8m, 2.0m, 2.2m and 2.4m.
All arrived safely without damage and most of these were spun aluminium one piece dishes that are less robust than Channel Master and Prodelin type compund dishes.

Give Tony a ring up in Belfast, he sometimes has 2.4m dishes for sale.
He decommissioned a site last year and had three or four Prodelin 2.4m dishes for sale, all high quality stuff as they were used commercially by a broadcaster.
There might be some left over?

Ultra bargain, to galvanise the mount will have cost close to £100, amazing value.
Perhaps butchy will buy it and pay you to deliver it and set it up for him, could be a nice earner.
