FTA Gems

"sport" has rules,a competition element and repetitiveness.
However,"exotic" sports, such as kirkpinar,Papuasian sports,or Scottish "strength" sports may qualify in my view.
Football, cricket, snooker, golf etc... have a taste of "fixture" events, they won't classify as "gems" something rare & wonderful, worthy of wonder.
they'll repeat next year ,unless very grave events prevent them.
Gems do not repeat.

It's within the gift of all Members to start any Topic (within the rules of the Forum) that they so wish. I look forward to you contributing one that aligns with your expressed wishes :)

On 26East
A bunch of Nigerian channels on 10970V 27500, and 11010 V 27500
Full of life, music, local languages... Nigeria has 220+ million people,it shows!!

On 23.5 East at 12010V 29900
a Fox news- like US brainwasher called "Newsmax"
I wonder what s it's doing among a mainly Czech & Dutch bunch of TPs...
shows why the US or,rather us ,are in danger... quite frightening.
A curiosity.

and tv24.co.uk is a wonderful site!!
I can' t remember who gave the link,he/she may be thanked a lot!!!:D:D

SPAIN: Procesiones de Semana Santa
Yesterday and today
a lot of "procesiones" on the usual Astra "andalucia, galicia, aragon, extremadura" channels & the Hotbird TVE Int
Colorful and handsomely commented!

Van Der Valk - all the way from 1972 on Talking Pictures TV on 28E.

When it was airing in the '70's, Ollie, my little canary, trilled so loudly to the theme tune that I had to take his cage into another room during the programme.
For some reason he never did the same with other TV shows, records or radio other than a few cheeps.

Strangely, this series never made it to France, until 2015 (the new batch).
And was a notable flop, due to lack of "local colour".
I have lived near Amsterdam, been there many times. Indeed the characters should be ,at least in the order of 60-75%...Dutch people (or Indonesian,Moroccans) like people in Amsterdam really are!
and some 20% Brits/Irish/Americans...of course!
Not a group of transported Brits .
How would you take a series in Edinburgh with only Spaniards,or French or Portuguese?Or Dutch?
Too bad an interesting place like the NLs is not better served....by the Dutch!

But I ll enjoy seeing old Amsterdam back in hippie days, the Melkweg an Warmoestraat!

I suppose it's a little bit like those German Rosamunde Pilcher TV films that ZDF film in Cornwall in South West England with a German-speaking cast!

Yes sure, there is also a series set in Brittany with an all-German cast, that triggered a series-targeted tourism in the village where the series takes place Kommissar Dupin – Wikipedia
which no-one in France (bar some Alsatians, teachers of German) knows about.
