Fantastic tool Gold Master 525 combo

did taking the cover off kill it? probably blown your chance of a refund.

Allegedly a recovery tool, but I can't see a file anywhere
2. Download the firmware for your receiver model, rename its name to flash.bin and copy it to the root of the USB flash drive. (the bootloader must be fine)

It ran for about two hours with the upgraded firmware, pictures of the internals were the day before. There are no tamper stickers on the casing.

I'll try one more thing tomorrow, a variable DC supply and starting at a low voltage.

And........ success.

Connecting the receiver a the supply and starting from around 3V, slowly increasing the voltage to 7V (where the board lights start to flicker), and holding there for a minute or so before disconnecting appears to have cleared the fault.

Does anyome have a more modern firmware than 1.28 ?

Where there's a will there's a way :Y.

1.28 appears to be the latest..not seen anything more recent..

Thanks, will work with what I have then.

I have noticed the sticker underneath suggests the USB port maximum drive current is 200mA, which may be why the receiver went off soon after the upgrade (I had left it connected).

The power supply that came with it (rated at 12V, 1A) continues to be a pile of poo. I may break open to see what is not inside.

CH, a little guidance please.
I plead near ignorance with electrical ratings etc so, the pic you show of your power supply shows its rating. ¿Are you advising that the power supply used is underated for use with the 525 and/or can this be potentially harmful to the receiver?

Again. my failing but I notice that the power supplied used with the GT Combo (as attached) has a different rating ie:-

Input: AC100-240V,
50/60Hz, 0.5A max
Output: 12V ---1.5A

¿Appreciate/imagine power supply depends on the receivers innards but would that increase in power supply be safe to use with the Goldmaster'

Only wonder because yesterday my SR525 was running yesterday from 13.00hrs to 19.00hrs and recording the golf (HD) at Wentworth, all went well with the receiver including the recording..naturally pleased!

Thanks for the help with learning curve. :Y

A machine usually only takes as much as it requires.

I would prefer a larger Wattage (VxI) when running something that drives its own main circuitry and tuner, when connected to any outside switchgear, a motor, LNB, CA card and USB stick).

In colder, damper weather I doubt a 1A supply is going to be happy delivering a stable 12V, driving a 1m dish with everything above.

Mine not arrived yet , I see the description states *Note: in case use STB as finder, use UPS with 12v/1.5A output . Why not just supply it with that then.
Obviously it's.a Cheap psu to begin with

I have multiple PSU 12v 2a and 3a knocking about, may be compatible

The additional current will be for the wifi connection, the dedicated chip and losses switching it on.
(greater than 242mA)

My unit arriving today from Oman (Saturday to Tuesday). So fast. I hope to start using soon......

DHL poor , gets all the way from Oman to Liverpool in 3 days , then blag an attempted delivery, @1.29pm been waiting patiently Wed it is now again rearranged.

Just arrived it ! Now start testing, time helping..... Good receiver, simple but complete (only UHD missing). See you soon................

Mine was missing batteries.

The lack of a second USB port was my initial criticism.

While I can't prove it I think this receiver was originally terrestrial (or cable) only, then the company thought iof adding the dual tuner to improve specification and sales.

Hopefully mine arrives today ,just had a text from dhl apparently no house no on label.

Mine was missing batteries too. No problem. Bear in mind that this is a Chinese unit, not a German or Greek or English version. The level is low but wellbuilt, moreover the app and the software is at its highest, don't forget ! Russian developer is doing a good job. I miss UHD section......... but with my Edision OsMio4k plus is not a problem.
