Flysat site closing down

Agreed and a definite need. The above pic and mentioned sites show how graphical visual satsfaction is achieved, easy to read helped by field colour variation. Hope the site succeeds with this, will be good for us all. :-clap

A site rip? You don’t even know what you’re talking about. Most websites look similar nowadays, and structurally, pretty much all satellite frequency websites follow the same kind of layout. If the new SatInform website is going to be useful, clean, and easy to use, it should definitely stay away from LyngSat’s current color design and color coding. It used to be much better, maybe even one of the best but now it’s honestly one of the worst. I literally find myself scrolling down to the color legend just to remember what each color means. It has become such a mess.

And then there’s the updating issue. LyngSat is based in Sweden, yet they don’t even update their “own” Swedish TV channels or Thor frequencies on time. They’re often late with updates. But let’s be fair: LyngSat still has one major advantage. It’s probably one of the only European based satellite websites that also has extensive information on Atlantic and American satellites that many other European satellite websites simply don’t cover.

Yes, the information should be similar, but here the data has simply been copied and pasted—you just have to look closely to see it.
However, the scraper sometimes makes a few mistakes, and channels from adjacent transponders are occasionally merged incorrectly.
Shamelessly copying content is disrespectful to all the volunteers who make sites like Flysat or Lyngsat possible.
 
This might be a bit off-topic but i’ve never submitted a transponder update to KingOfSat or LyngSat before.

I’ve noticed that some of the information on both KingOfSat and LyngSat isn’t always accurate. For example, 12169 H is transmitted from Thor 7, but KingOfSat lists it as Thor 6, K2 beam/coverage, which is incorrect.

Has anyone here submitted updates or corrections to KingOfSat or LyngSat before? I’d be interested to hear about your experience. What are the admins like, and how quickly do they usually review and apply submitted updates? I loved sending updates to FlySat, but I’m kinda not feeling it with these messy sites.

Hi FC GD. I've been a regular updater for Lyngsat and over the years that site has been the most accurate for me but not the first to publish changes. He really makes sure the listings are accurate. If you find an error do email in and you'll get a reply which may be just THANKS. SimonE
 
Yeah I used to send updates to Lyngsat (Christian). He'll always update it and he'll ask questions sometimes to ensure that if, for example, something disappears, it's not your equipment. His daily email updates are very handy too.
 
the new 42E turksat frequencies have not been listed
,the old,obsolete 11054 is still there... so updtates are slow it seems.

Same here, regular updater here over many years for several bands ... Christian has always been very helpful if i asked for help etc on clarifying something.
 
I have played with the skins and the site is looking good and has a lot of information. Someone is working hard to fill the void left by Flysat. However looking at 55.5°W the confirmed C Band reception looks questionable.
