hello every body
In some forums it seems that the BBC package on Intelsat 907 27.5 W is now available in many receivers even with a symbol rate of 44100
Any confirmation please !

Moved to more appropriate home.

If it is indeed available its probably being transmitted fta for the duration of the Paralympics. Expect them to be scrambled again once the sports events finish!

If anyone has any reception report for this beam from the Canary islands I would be very interested to hear it. The footprint on flysat shows an EIRP of 44.6 dBW (90 cm dish?) at its limit which is about 250 km North of here (if that). I hope a 1.2m dish or even a 1.0m with good quality LNB might pick it up.

Why have they made it FTA during the Olympics?

That's good news. I posted on previous threads stating around a 1.1m dish so wasn't too far off :D

Even if the Spiderbox will not work, there are several receivers that have been proven to work (as discussed elsewhere on this forum). This is excellent news for the Canary Islands. 1m dishes are widely available at reasonable cost.

It is for now - but don't expect the status quo to remain once it is recognised that a hitherto benign resource for "out of area" reception is being exploited on an increasingly wide scale.

ie Enjoy it while you can.

I don't see any reason why take up should increase. These channels have required a large dish i.e. to most unaffordable, for some considerable time. The arrival of 2F only threatens to be a compelling event for the few who could afford a big dish anyway.
