BBC 27.5W?

The very fact that people in the Canaries are now at the very least thinking of picking up the baton is proof positive of potential take-up - and public domain debate about the matter will increase awareness elsewhere within the 27.5W footprint.

Also, just taking the dreaded Football as an example, even over the past couple of years it has become much, much harder to find reliable methods for viewing Feeds owing to the use of such techniques as 4:2:2 or secure Encryption. This is clearly down to two key factors, the first being the need to better satisfy stakeholders about the extent of Copyright breaches and the second being ever cheaper and better technology to create effective methods of restriction.

I don't think that BBC and related stakeholders would be able to justify not trying to make life more difficult.

That said, BSkyB only play at this when obliged to as they have a conflict of interest owing to much "overspill" actually being a source of Revenue.

BBC doesn't have that luxury (And, no, we don't want yet another Licence Fee debate!) as it is a different beast.
 
PS: Massive signal here on an 80cm with a Skybox F3.
 
Sorry folks, just had to show off. Working fine on DM800 HD.
SNR is normally 100% but it's light rain here. The signal is pretty much as strong as 28.2!

Are you saying the Skybox F3 actually decode these feeds?

When the BBCi "streams" moved TP last year they didn't even bother to set the encrypted flag which made the invisible to Sky boxes on the old TP. Suddenly anyone with a Sky box and dish pointed at 28.2E could tune in all the BBC Sport via "Other Channels" (and believe me they did). Money is so tight at the BBC these days I really don't think anyone is bothered (£450,000 tighter since yesterday LOL).

I've tried an F3, got good signal and the channels scanned in fast, didn't really try to open them though. Aparrently there's people that have got them to work.

Not managed to decrypt as yet, even with a known working constant.cw file >>>>> I suspect this may be a Symbol Rate issue with the F3, suggesting that it should not be added to the list of known working Rxs.

True (Especially the bit about the disgusting "pay-off") >>>> but I always prefer to be cautious in these matters: We all know there are unscrupulous types out there who will promise an interrupted and enhanced service in perpetuity in order to get a sale. But the wise hobbyist just takes what they can get, when they can get it :)

Most of the known working receivers are pretty pricey I am looking around for a cheap HD receiver that supports BISS and the high symbol rate required for the DVB-S2 channels. Mind you, the "compelling event" will be is I lose my UK spot when the 1N channels migrate to 2F .... only a few days until we find out :-)
 
Well if I get my F3 to play the game, I'll be sure to report back.

If so, it would be a snip at around €60.

Damn good bit of kit, taken in the round.

Just to clarify. I am an individual looking at receiving the channels in my own home and my second house which is a holiday rental.

Frankly there are so many people receiving their UK TV via the internet here in the Canaries I don't think most people are interested in these feeds or paying some sat guy big money. Most people when faced with the cost of even a modest satellite installation (€200-€300) will balk when they can just stick an HDMI cable into the side of their laptop instead.

Personally I prefer the speed and picture quality of a proper satellite setup, but most people here are just grateful they can watch "Corrie" no matter how poor the picture quality it. Few people "stream", they download and so buffering is not an issue.
 
Just had a go with the F3. No luck whatsoever, the channels aren't broadcast an encoded flag so the cccam doesn't attempt to decode the channel. Not sure if there is a way of forcing it to decode the channels? The tuner has no problem scanning in the channels, signal strength and quality shows up good.
 
Yup. Getting to the point where return on effort is falling off the cliff.

It's only a vanity project for those of us in the UK ("Because we can can't"), but it would be nice to help our fringe friends a bit.
 
Heard all the satellite companies here in the canaries are getting ready to turn the dishes around to 27.5 w then just getting the relevant boxes to pick up the channels. Just buy 5 new boxes to show bbc1 through to channel 5 to hundreds of apartments on complexes. Do you think the feeds will still last long if so many are doing it just here alone and how would the beeb know who is getting the signal ?
 
Looking here one would suppose. Not all BBC employees are tidying their desks and trousering licence-payers money as they leave office.

Channel 5 is encrypted with PowerVu and I have not seen any reports of anyone decoding that. Sky subscribers can still get Channel 5 HD from 28.2E,

If this happens, as I think it may, it will be ironic that there will be all these 3m dishes pointing at a satellite that can be received on a 1m dish!
