At this point , if we are receiving a strong test signal , would it be fair to say this will be the case for the whole switchover ? Or is this all speculation ?Can things change much from here ?

Its quite possible the transmission powers could be backed off a bit once the bird is fully populated and they know what the power usage is going to be like. One of the newer Eutelsat birds had markedly different power levels 6 months after she went into service than from when she was lit up.

now the question is,are sky going to use this uk beam?many subscribers abroad would lose the channels

I would say no very unlikely, but........

Just playing Devils advocate here........... When all 3 new birds are in place, all of which carry a "UK spot beam" there will in theory be a massive amount of capacity available for just UK /Ireland transmission.
WHAT IF????....someone like Canal+ España took SLY to court and said "There is capacity available on the UK spot beams why are you beaming SLY sports on a pan European beam? Why don't you use UK spot? If you use UK spot for your sports channels we might be able to sell more C+ packages to bars and expats especially as we are paying huge sums to The FAPL for broadcast rights."

But Murdoch probably ownes C+ anyway so will probably never happen!

Sorry Mahoosively off topic.

No. This transponder does not have competing transponders on 30.5E or 26E. Other transponders do so will definitely need bigger dishes to filter those signals off now the power level is down a few dB.

canal plus did complain in the past and the Spanish rights group went with polica local and took away sky cards from bars but they were trying to stop SKY CARDS BEING SOLD IN SPAIN not to ex pats bringing em out and on the new satellites ANY transponder can use any freq so will only be UK if needs be DONT FORGET WAB AND ME beam ..

MBC on 26e only needs a 60cm here

I made the mistake of scanning for channels on this TP. The first thing I see once the scan is complete? Alan Sugar :(

The drop off seems to go fast. In the west/south west of the Netherlands the signal of 11023H is even slightly better according to some report on Dutch satellite forums. But right from the middle of the country the signal is starting to get lower than the 1N. I live in the middle and my signal:

BBC HD (1N) - 90%
BBC One HD Tests (2F) - 62%

You wouldn't know the difference from that scan. Brilliant.

that confirms 11034h is astra 2f spot bam, because the uk spot beam gives ireland far higher power than 1n would evefr give

Well in that case I'm going to change my footprint map slightly. Red zone <= 1.25m dish. Green zone <= 80cm dish. What do you think?

11023H does not work in Tenerife. Not on 2.4 channel master and also not on 2.9 offset laminas.
But has anyone tested 11008V. This has the same power as 11023 H. I'm wondering if this is also from 2F.

The red line needs to be other side of Baleric islands as its not working on 1.35 there in Palma but is working on 1.65. Also it needs moving up closer to Valencia.
