Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

100% stable here on the 90cm and the same SNR as last night. In the days of 2D this would have been considered excellent daytime signal on a 1.8m dish.

And the LNB is skewed for the arc on this dish, not Astra.

I would class that reading as boarderline and certainly NOT stable !

[sub]did you have the same value yesterday??..shame i dont have my meter handy here [/sub]

How do you change the SNR % figure to a DB figure. My VU only gives me a SNR %???

So is it an 80 cm dish then or was that another report ?
I don't know the minutiae of his setup. You'll have to ask him yourself. I'm sure you must know him.

"a 85cm satellite dish in Gandia is receiving this Astra 2F test signal" i would be interested in more information about this report as i am not convinced that this is based on a stable reception report !
Its stable. It is a client, just around the corner to me, who has an 85cm dish (sharp 0.3 i think?) who reported stable signal (he mentioned values but I did not note them down).
It works fine on 1n also, (apart from in the heavy rains were even 90cm / 1m dishes have issues.)

My dish is 80cm (horizontally) - inverto ultra twin.
Signal is steady on 2F (and its been steady for 1N frequencies also albeit apart from the obvious rain issues and small realignment after winds.)
The currently connected Freesat box is showing Strength at 100%, quality at 70% for 11024h
The currently connected Freesat box is showing Strength at 100%, quality at 75% for 10847v.
No change from yesterday IIRC.

@Torrevieja, what satcatcher meter have you got? Doesn't matter that it is DVB-S only. Check BBC2 England transponder (10773H). If the dish is set up right you should have at least 8.8dB C/N on a Satcatcher.
I have been lent a Setsat Satcatcher (setsat.com) is the one I have. I entered the details you said (10773H) and got the attached result. However not sure how I can test 2f. image.webp

49%in the screenshot last night watching the news. Now it is on the border between 48-49%.

SNR is from my meter not the Vu+. Vu+ doesn't display in dB, but OpenVix will display pseudo dB base on an alogrithm.

I am just a bit suspicious because i remember reports from the same member about ASTRA 1N earlier this year saying that he could receive all of the channels on a 80cm meter dish which he edited very soon afterwards to say "some of the channels" ?????

I do not have a DVB-S2 capable receiver, therefore I must do with what I have available.
I used my Echostar 8700 analogue receiver as a spectrum analyzer (with LT-Edit).
Yes, it really seems to speak from another era...
Anyway, the scan gave me a sad result. The 11023H transponder is between TP59 and TP63. The problem is that you can only see those transponders. No sign of the 11023H signal.
My only residual hope is that now the stronger nearby signals are somehow covering it and that when all signals will get much lower I will have still enough signal to lock. But it is really my last hope, and I do not believe in it myself.

In the picture I show you my scan of the horizontal low band. Min signal in the graph is about 1000, MAX about 1800 arbitrary units.
The red line is at 11023. Right in a dip. Not promising. :( :( :( :(

Location: Firenze, Italy
Dish: Channel Master 1.8 m
LNB: Inverto Black

Waiting for some DVB-S transponders to light up (or, better said, light down) to start to cry. :-cry1 :-cry1 :-cry1 :-cry1

Stefano.

P.S.-Image appears only in my preview, not in the public post. I attach the image, hoping for the good.

Satcatcher is a brand. That thing doesn't look anything like one and by the looks of it doesn't even display C/N.

The Ech 8700 tuner wont recognise the DVB-S2 signal so all is not lost for you yet

Thats it for me tonight, over and out from Galashiels. catch you all in the morning for more fascinating discussions :)

I have had no issues with 1n channel on the 80cm dish at all - apart from obvious rain and heavy cloud which even 90cm/1m dishes have problems with.
It did have some issues with 10714h, which was down to the dish being misaligned after a windy spell...

Stefano, unfortunately your image does not appear.

He edited because some transponders got a bit flaky at certain times of day, which wasn't apparent at the time the original post was made. I've got no reason to doubt because I've also had reasonable 1N reception on an 80cm dish.

Well it's made by Satcatcher, I think it's just one of their more basic models? Picture from satcatcher website: 1.webp

ok if your picture is ´breaking up ´but is there, what % are you down on signal ???

Looks like it.

Anyway did you shim out the elevation bracket when you installed the dish? Also are you getting a stable picture on BBC2 England?

Will check about the shim out, as for BBC2 it's solid (see attached) photo.webp

Well it seems that people living closer to the centre of spotbeam are reporting even higher signal levels on 2F than on 1N.
With my Big Bisat I have 15,2dB on 1N and 15,7dB on 2F.
