Can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be useful for hobby purposes, Martin.

(Not clear from your OP whether the Bookmaker's still operating or if it's clearly redundant and you're on the lookout for a new toy!)

I BET he's after a new toy!!!:p

I tell my wife that every day.

Thanks lads, the bookies have been shut for a few years now and the dish is still there not in use I presume, I am always on the look out for something that might be cheap 1.2 or above :-),

I will pop and see if I can get in touch with the owner of the property and offer him a tenner for it, I will let you know if I get it :-).

You can never have too many dishes to play with :D
I'm gonna be VERY sexist here and say..
She has her dishes to play with ...a kitchen cupboard full ..So why shouldn't you ?
as AS says ..you can Never have too many ..
The dish in question would certainly make for good experiments in Cband ..
PF dishes are good for this ..as the feeds match more easily

lol :-), yes I was thinking on the C band side of things VS, I was hoping to pop down today but only just finished work, I will try and get tomorrow.

Would be interested in seeing your results from this as I have the same dish but it's in the garage at the moment. Don't think our garden can manage two 1.2m dishes...

I popped down today and the property belongs to the brewery, I spoke to a chap who used to rent it after it was a bookmakers and he told me to just go and take it lol,

I cant do that so i will have to do a bit of poking about and see what I can do to get it.

Tricky one, due to a decent conscience.

I have a similar problem with a farmyard at the top of our lane where there is a 1.2m dish and Actuator that was installed for access to 26E years ago, on behalf of an Arabian Tenant.

The Owner of the Estate is a multi-millionaire but I've rejected, on several occasions, the notion of just removing it. And he's never here, so I can't ask him.

Neither the Owner nor current Tenants will have the faintest idea what it is.

Yes its tricky tivu, I am sure it would not be missed but I don't want to get arrested lol.
Great attitude, sorely lacking amongst some people of today :-clap

martin, that dish suppose to be any good?

i've just got like a 90cm generic dish,
recently been thinking about upgrading...

I am not sure tbh saj, but i am willing to have a play with it if i can get it :-), the building must belong to the owner of the pub by its side so i will pop and see the landlord of the pub, when i get the chance and see if he has the authority for me to remove it /a person who has the authority,

I think it an aluminum dish and what i can make out using dish pointer it was laid to rest at 12.5 W which would make sense with horse racing :-). hopefully i will be able to let you know in the near future pal :-).

wish you all the best mate, hope it works out for ya! :)

n0ticed you got a channel master and orbital dish,
how do you rate them?

thankyou saj :-)

I rate them both highly saj, its hard to rate one against the other as the C/M is in a league of its own and .2 bigger than my 1mtr orbital, also i live in a good reception area and that accounts for a lot :-).
