Why would my dish be falling off ?
Because you're in Torrevieja. Almost every dish down there is about to drop off the wall. :-rofl2

The problem might be that we might have a pointing error
How do you know that if the beam hasn't even been switched on yet? Or do you mean a hypothetical problem or pointing error? :-doh

what i ask
if astra 2e
it live move left from astra 1n
?

the issue is this is a free flowing object which gives us multiple dimensions of movement. Not only moves the satellite inside its box, but it can also turn around all three of its axes. The movement inside the box should have a minimal influence to the signal on earth, at least with "normal" sized dishes. Important for most of us fringies is the stabilisation of the rotation around the axes. The literature says that the pointing error of the earth facing side is usually 0.15 degrees. (Peter Berlin: The geostationary applications satellite and Theresa Braun: Satellite Communications Payload and Systems. Both very readable and recommended for the people interested in the technology)
Now this literature is already a few years old and technology is changing and there are other mechanisms which can reduce the pointing error, but i guess we are still somewhere in this magnitude. The difference between the lowest and the highest signals i saw here was about 12 db. Which translates to almost 120km of beam movement over the earth. Which should be near enough those 0.15 degrees. If someone wants to do the maths, pls go ahead :-)

pointing error is how they call it in the literature.

It won't be long before we find out by observation.

And even after that, precedent suggests there will be some trimming of things like the attitude of the craft.

Question is if someone was actively trimming or if it just happens by accident and no one really cares as long as the attitude is still within the allowed limits. But we will find that out for sure

Bit egoisitic that thought:-nutkick

How about members in the other ( northern ) fringe area. :-lmao
Well, I'm about as fringe as it gets - within 30Km goes from 1.9 dish to 2.4 dish. Watch this space Thursday evening. If I lose channels on a 1.2 dish I'll be out mobile with a 1.9 testing so will have results then.

Some of us don't take the coming changes too seriously simply because we got
the antidote that will solve any problems. This magic potion to be exact...

There is a luxury version with 11,4 dB gain but I really don't believe in that one,
sounds too good to be true really!

It looks like 12633 H is off air

Edit: also 12663 H off air - both on 2F, although it may be my dish as it's incredibly windy outside

L.O.L. Might need some of that here if I lose the main FTA channels. Does it come with comprehensive instructions?? :D

Hi Steve. I think movies4men, Al Jazeera Egg and Euronews seemed to
be off.

Maybe it's my dish...

I tested my 80cm dish in Helsinki and as I suspected not getting a lock on any of the new 2E Europe beams, the DrHD F15 reads between 0.0-2.1dB at best. Before I was getting 12-14dB on 2A North beam and 4-6dB on the South beam.

Last night's started around 2.30am-ish. I'm off to bed now but will check-in first thing to see what's migrated.
