My Satellite Setup
Icecrypt 60cm Satellite Dish with Twin LNB, SilverCrest SL35 HDMI Receiver, Silvercrest SL65 Receiver
My Location
Tuam, Ireland
Hi I live near Tuam in Ireland. I had a Lidl SL65 receiver and dish setup on the house but the dish (approx 80cm) was destroyed in the storms (blew inside out and then was ripped off the house) and I had to replace it but I could only get a 60cm one from Maplin in Galway. I had the dish pointed at the Astra 28.2E previously.

I installed the new dish but all I can receive are the basic UK channels - No music channels, CNN, Sky News, Kids channels, etc.

I read somewhere that the channels are migrating to another satellite but this seems too coincidental to happen just as my old dish breaks. Is this due to the fact that I am using a smaller dish now?

Chances are its just poor alignment of the new dish. Most of those channels are on very high power beams.

The 60cm dish should be ok in Ireland for Astra 2e and 2F, including their Narrow Beams, but Eutelsat 28A is a bit dodgy even for me without very careful alignment.

Fortunately that ceases service soon, so you should be ok in the long run. Just carefully tweak what you've got.

Edit: ^^^^^^ Tsk!

Hi thanks for the replies. In the past I have looked at webpages that give the direction, elevation and lnb angle etc. What is the best website for this and which satellite dish should I be aiming for?

Im going to miss Eut 28A - never ever been a problem up here even on just a 60 cm dish bolted to a couple of fence posts and wiggling around in the gales.

Astra 2 cluster 28.2E, Eutelsat 28A 28.5E

also make sure the ajust the skew and focal point of the lnb to get every last drop of signal

Dishpointer is useful, in general terms but, as you've got 28E Channels anyway, the rest of your current task is just tweaking.

Why do you wiggle around in gales? Wouldn't you be more comfortable indoors?

Never seen a dish do that before! LOL!
