How much do you pay please, I only drive an old Peugeot and ive got 3 years no claimes bonus its just cost me £270 TPFT for the year paid in full, when I first past my test 4 years ago I bought a jag and was paying £340 a month:eek:

Varies slightly from year to year (I ditch and switch between the sister Companies Direct Line, Churchill and Privilege in order to keep getting Introductory Discounts), but both SWMBO and I get Fully Comprehensive for around £150.

We are, however, ancient, with several centuries worth of NCD and live in a low-risk Postcode.

Martin, do check Fully Comp prices as apparently the belief that TPFT must be cheaper no longer necessarily holds true, bizarrely.

£340 fully comp includes UK & continental breakdown cover (that's with full NCB and being 'over 40'). That's for Merc E320. I've seen it said that asking for TP&F often generates a higher quote than fully comp. There's not much logic in insurance premiums IMHO! I changed the car when my policy renewal was due and because it was a change of vehicle my existing insurer said it would mean a new policy and proceeded to ask all details... Name, address etc. When it all went into the 'puter it generated a quote £15 cheaper than my renewal would have been .

Thanks tivu I did check, that's the best quote I could find last year it was £450 I don't think the price is bad for a 2ltr turbo diesel with only 3 years ncb, and after paying all that for the jag its a blessing to drive for a whole year for less than the price I used to pay a month,

I presume you have the full ncb been driving for a good few years without and accidents pal:).

I have left my old insurer they wanted £344

I think my last car insurance was less than my road tax. Similar to you in car, old 2 Litre Turbo Peugeot, but it went down when I moved house due to the neighbourhood, private drive, and garage.
It's due again in the next two months, along with my road tax, both at the same time.
I was looking for a smaller car, but I like the heated seats, multi CD changer and all electric contraptions. It is an executive model, with quite a few years on it, the car, and me !!!!!
I stopped driving for quite a few years, as I lived near to work and close to the town.About 6 years ago I had to start again, due to work. No bus routes to the new industrial estate, at least not then, and have since racked up the no claims bonus.
I always use the online price comparisons, but for the last few years my current insurer, RSA Echoice, has beaten any new quotes.

Obviously being here a comparison in costs isn't much use, however.....

I've just paid my insurance (it's split into twice a year) and it was €176 for six months, 'tout risques'. That's on a mid 1990's Renault Megane. I asked about changing onto a restricted mileage (ok, kilometreage) policy (not more than 8,000 km a year) but it only reduced by €30...I'm insured with Axa, mainly because they are cheaper, their agent is very local, she speaks English and has big boobs...amazing how persuasive she was....

For my old Peugeot 406 HDI 110 Executive, I paid around £250 a year FC. For my current 407 2.2 HDI Exec I am paying around £310. Both from Admiral with £100 compulsory excess and no voluntary one. They are cheapest for me and have been for a good number of years, even though I do have to phone them to nag for a discount.

Live in a quiet area, 32yo, 6 years NCB.

Ah, yes, CJ: You have reminded me that another daft quirk of Insurance is that if you get a quote with the Default Voluntary Excess (Often up to £350), but opt to reduce it to Zero, the Premium remains the same!

Well worth doing as that's dosh back in the pocket if you do have a prang.

I don't think I am doing bad at £270 then, fully comp was £346 TPO was £370 ish, I live in a quite area 46 3 years ncb.

I think my road tax was about £235, it is always about £10 more than it actually states on the bill I receive. It will not allow me to pay online as my insurance is due at the same time and the DVLA website only reads my old insurance policy, even if I've already renewed it for another 12 months.

Managed to find 2012 - 2013 insurance, fully comp £167, this years info is on the website, I didn't bother to download it and the website, for my account, is currently down.

I've had quotes from £300 to £900 for my 10 year old MG ZR. Cheapest was Hastings Direct, although i won't be renewing with them again as you when you ring them you are held in a que for an eternity. By the time they answer the call your policy has expired.

I need to shop around this year - Ive been with KwikFit for a few years and its been going up steadily. Problem is it always runs out about the time we are away on our summer holiday and Ive got more important things to do.

30 years driving experience, never claimed a cent on the insurance.

08 plate Fiesta & its well over £400 fully comp now.

You live in the middle of nowhere AS, you can do much cheaper than that. I think Kwik-Fit have been ripping you off mate.

I can understand my insurance being so high as apparently its a performance sports car
(1.4 105bhp = Can't pull the skin off a rice pudding, covered in rust :-lmao) and i live in what could be easily mistaken as down town Beirut (according to the insurance company anyway)

The most offensive and dangerous thing in the Scottish borders is a sheep :D

Anyway you'l be paying for your insurance in Groats if old Alex gets his way in the referendum.

I pay about £160 fully comp protected for me and the Mrs on a 2012 Supercharged Micra, approx 10 years NC and Zero road tax.
I don't feel smug :D
