And it appears it doesnt keep its network settings after a power off which I carefully set up on a reserved IP. Now Ive discovered its turned the DHCP back on and grabbed an already allocated network address after its (numerous) reboots.

Working in networking thats a cardinal sin as far as Im concerned.

To be fair, the issues you describe shouldn't exist on a brand new receiver. Unless there's a new firmware update that you can put on to resolve these things, I would send it back for a full refund.

I have to agree with CJ, if your that displeased with the unit then maybe you should return it.

Don't forget the problem these receivers have with dvb-s2 8psk channels with symbol rate <10000. For example try channels of eutelsat 3B.

Unfortunately I cant. 5E is a far round as I can get then trees get in the way. The next gap I have is 30W (and then only with a dish in one particular position in the garden!)

A factory reset didnt do anything so I delved around in the menus and flashed the latest phantom patch onto it. That seems to have improved things a bit - and brought the biss capability as well. Inputting the biss codes is soo much easier then on other receivers :D

The iptv stream seem to work fairly well even on 1.3meg bb, shame most of them are in German & Russian! Anyone got an enhanced list?

seems like the quality has gone down as my tm1500 is still working fine after many years.

I was looking at getting one of these but might not now.

Have you got a spare length of cable and run a direct connection from a dish to the receiver?

Could be that it doesn't like your switch that you are using?

Having spent most of today setting things up (half term holiday here this week) its actually gone up a fair bit in my reckoning..

Its doing better on the weak 7E signals here than the other receivers do (weak due to wet foliage in the signal path!) It'll give a usable signal (enough to at least see the channel logo) at ~5.2dB or ~24% (the African stuff on 10722V)

Below 4dB - forget it - the signal is there but it wont show any audio or video. (the TRT stuff on 10762V) But the db indicator is still useful to see what signal is actually there even if its too weak to give a picture

It needs ~5.5db to give pixellation free image.

Its only locked up once today due to me trying to manually set an already existing frequency & choosing the wrong backup route out. However flipping the power switch trashed its network settings again....... If I turn DHCP off I want the bloody thing to STAY off!

Cant get it to identify the 16E lnb for some reason though atm, but I shall not give up :D

The pic quality is better than the F3 as well.

oh dear, I was thinking of getting one of those for 907 27.5 W but I don't think I could be putting up with all that s*** Any other boxes that would give me 27.5 W with biss without the hassle you are having as I can't find my 8 pound lump hammer!!!!!!!

One advantage of this one is the BISS key is incredibly easy to enter once the receiver has been phantom patched. No faffing around with usb sticks to load a new file, just go to the cas menu and enter the hex code direct. I got a couple of the eastern European channels on the minor satellites opened in a matter of seconds.

Most people probably wouldnt have the hassles Im having - I like my transponder lists nice and tidy so I manually enter them but if you are happy to let the blind scan do most of the work thenyou wont have these issues.

And look below 27.5W already has the Beeb freq installed anyway :D (no signal as thats a blocked part of the arc here so theres no dish pointing round there!)bim.jpg

It's even simpler: go to the channel with biss, press 8280 and here comes the biss menu.

It seems like you are a bit more settled with it now. So you definately think it's an ok box bareing in mind that all I want is aim and watch.

Just press 8280 on the remote and it takes you direct to the biss menu
8281 then the PIN number takes you to another menu.

Always thought you were a freebie satellite channel person with your setup scanning the heavens above:D

Did not in my wildest dreams think you would resort to loading BISS keys to open new ( scrambled/encoded ) opportunities :-rofl2

The network setting issue is piss poor quality but now I think I'll keep it. Again most people will use dhcp so it wont be a problem for them

Was just seriously considering getting a 5402mk3 as main Sat-controlling receiever. This is not specifically for watching, I have the Humaxes and the Sky boxes for that.
Need something that has all the functions, with easily accessible yet substantial flexibility, AND of course with very sensitive tuners. And something that does not crash, or restores the settings I have specifically deleted, or screw up the IP addresses etc.
Is this something else than the TMs? Dreamboxes or similar "Linux-based" receivers? (As they're all based on Linux, so it's a bit of a misnomer.)
I have little desire for spending inordinate amount of time applying undocumented patches to obscure distributions of some Linux-image, just to see if it is slightly better than before.
Need workhorse. Will pay for good quality.
Is there anything out there?
