25.5E (Eutelsat 25B)

Thanks for the above info- I still get nothing though, from the old satellite it was marginal. But well done putting all that research up.
:-clap
hi - Piltdownpaul
iv tried here with 1.8 c.m. into dr HD F15 reciever --- not a flicker of signal.

Yes,really no chance with the td88 then.

Strange one this, I am quite sure its coming from here ? will someone check please, 12480 V 27500,

I've just scanned 26E this mux did not scan in, I then pulled slightly W and this mux has scanned in, I can only get 55/56% from it a few clicks E/W and its gone, if its not from here it must be from 26E.

Thats coming off 28E - maybe getting a weird reflection from a wall or one of the other dishes?

Maybe the uplink to Astra 2E, accidentally was pointing to Badr 4 last night?
For the 11700...12500 MHz range, the uplink range is quite universally 17300...18100 MHz.

A deformed dish could also be, but then you should notice this more often, or now still.

Anyways, not the slightest signal now from the 25...26°E direction. Need to go towards 27°E before it starts to come in.

No its not coming from 28E i am 99.9% sure its coming from 25.5, maybe someone with a bigger dish in the uk could check,

The frequency, symbol rate etc are all identical to the listing on Lyngsat for Kerrang on 28E.... If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... :)

Well it must be bouncing of a wall then like A/S says, I noticed it last weak but just presumed it was in my log,

(A deformed dish could also be, but then you should notice this more often, or now still.)

CM are not prone for this, if I had a metal dish I would agree, but I will go out and string it shortly to eliminate this,

This is were my dish is atm, and I will upload a video shortly.

The 1.8 is in the shed maybe its pulling from that :-rofl2

That is a seriously sturdy looking mount for your CM, i like it

I think if i am ever lucky enough to move to a new house where my neighbours arn't such 5hitbags i will go for something like that

I had a similar "issue" with 26E/28.2E... sometimes when WEST of 26E, I occasionally get a weak but lockable signals from 28.2E. I always thought that I was just going mad and my dish was actually at 28.2E but looks like I am not the only one with this odd phenomenon.

With the power being chucked out from the Astra 2's I wouldnt be at all surprised to see occasional reflection reception off nearby roofing, walls etc.

(for many years my parents house had a set top tv aerial giving perfect analogue reception of BBC1 BBC 2 ITV & C4 Sutton Coldfield which was facing north not south - the signal must have been bouncing off the houses across the road :D )

Well I doubled checked 3 times before I posted up CJ, I've not had a beer for over a week but still had to check :D.

Ok I've been out and strung the dish no problems there,

Here is the video of what I am getting, the video starts with my dish around 25.5E and I take small steps E, I lose the signal at 26E and a few more clicks E and it appears again, any other ideas of whats happening please.

Definitely a reflection from somewhere - maybe as the focus of the signal from 28e moves around as the dish is rotated, the feedhorn of the LNB is somehow sucking in some of that wandering signal.

Do you get the same effect going westwards?

28E is a very powerful signal over UK. I managed to get 10dB from it using a 15cm pan lid a few months ago!

TBH CJ, I have never had anything like this, if a channel locks at 25.5 in my eyes that's were its from,

As you can see I have a solid lock at 25,5e then I lose it at 26e and pick it back up around 26,5E you know as much as me now strange :confused

Is it possible to shield the LNB so that it can only get signal directly from the dish, ie a DIY feedhorn? Cone made of aluminium foil or somesuch? If you do this and you lose the signal (well - assumming that the cone hasn't been mispositioned so that it blocks *everything*) then you're certainly getting a reflection falling directly on the LNB. If you don't lose signal then you're getting a reflection that's hitting the dish then hitting the LNB.

Sorry above post could be misleading, I did not mean it is was from here, what i was trying to say is i have never heard of signals been reflected before , (in the past ie this post) if I lock a channel in a certain place i take it for granted its coming from the said position,

Strange how i lose it around 26E could that be to do with the focal point ?, maybe one for Rima to answer.
