Nice find. If I'm not mistaken that was on Ses 6 at 40.5 circular. It's scanning in here with 13.9 db:

Anyone with Ku wanting to find 55.5°W with a view to C-band tests on a small dish, I've found a couple of weak signals this morning, way below lock but easy to spot on the spectrum scan.

Hi Feedsat........¿ Am working my way round the arc to make my first ever scan of 55.0ºW, is this frequency a good one for me to localise and lock with the 1.8m?

:D:D....and no need to suggest a polar mount is easier and as many here have hinted. :D:D

Thanks and enjoy the rest of your day. :)

My scans @ 55.5°W or 58°W are done with a 1.80m .

Yes, you can use this frequency 3808 V, a 7/8 but QPSK, the marging is good enough.
At the moment with 1.80m, here, the strongest TP is 4777 V 30000 in 8SPK: 11dB

good luck.

I am in the process of aligning 1.8cm on 55.5 west, firstly I found Bolivision on 4137, 2000 and with technomate 5302 mk3 got 70% signal, and 3 or 4 more tv. convinced myself a fence was in the way as from this forum , got into my head should be getting around 30 tp.
So I built a platform raising the dish 8 inches, but still cannot beat 70%, as the extra height has not improved reception, does this rule out the fence as an obstruction?
I am not experienced in c-band reception(my first try), but have noticed that I can move the dish a lot farther east/west. up/down and keep the signal, than would be the case with ku-band, is there anything to be gleaned from this, or is this the norm with c-band?
I am using a titanium c1-pll, I have 2 but one is slightly different as one box denotes wideband, the other not, is there a difference?
I know the difference between different lnb is minimal, but does the forum think there is a better alternative?
I have homemade arms and lnb holder, so everything is trial and error, based in the midlands, any views, answers, will be much appreciated, Cheers

Hi,

Here is a scan with a 1.80m antenna + LNB Titanium 6°E of prime , only one no lock in H.

The Titanium C1W PLL is not necessary here, the frequency range for this satellite is 3700 4200 (the DATA in lower frequency has left and not important for you).

And Yes in C-
band you can move the dish east/west and keep the signal, this is not the same in KU and absolutely not possible in KA.

PS: don't forget to do not insert the dielectric plate in the feed, this is a Linear polarization satellite

You should be able to get the same or better.

Good luck

Regards

thanks Feedsat, as I think you guessed I have had the plate in, sio I must start over. Got all excited after reading your post, went outside took out the plate and DISASTER.
Only 1 tp Amazona sat at 4103, 2963, it has made me so disapointed.
Have you any more ideas?
Cheers

bit of tweaking second scan got 75 channels, you're a superstar Feedsat, the plate removal has done the job.

OK, great, yes, with small antennas it's better to remove the plate, you lose about 3dB (and more dB with the titanium LNB , don't ask me why)
